CityFlatsHotel - Grand Rapids, Ascend Hotel Collection

This was a super cute, clean hotel downtown! A group of us came up to celebrate my birthday. The room was nice and open, and the bathroom was clean and spacious. It was walking distance to everything we wanted to do that evening. When it came time for sleep, the beds and blankets were super comfortable. Abby, at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. She gave some suggestions on where to go and accommodated getting an extra key when needed. She also brought up the fridge when we got a surprise upgrade. We'll definitely be back to this hotel if we're staying up in GR again!

Stayed here for the Michigan Music Conference. Check in was quick and easy. The room was clean and had everything I needed. The bed and pillows were very soft, but I was not bothered. It was very quiet during my entire stay. There was one window with a view of a brick wall, but I was not bothered by this either. Walkable distance to the Amway for the conference. Check out was quick as well. I really liked that they have sustainable products and practices in place. I loved having a recycling bin in my room :)

We just stayed here this last weekend. Great downtown location. Within walking distance to any main venue downtown. Room was small, but we were only sleeping there, not hanging out. Front desk was super nice. Only complaint was there were only 2 bath towels in the room, no wash clothes. Also I LOVED that we needed a key card to use the elevator, so it felt very safe.

Stayed here for two nights. Check in was smooth. I wish they had their own dedicated parking lot/garage. When arriving in our room, we noticed only two bath towels. With a soaking tub and a shower you'd think they would leave extra towels. Called the front desk and asked them to bring up extras. While we were waiting for the towels, we noticed several long black hairs on the bed. Neither my husband nor I have black hair. When they came with the towels we requested the sheets to be changed. It looked as if whoever cleaned the room laid down for a bit and left behind hairs. It was gross. The soaking tub and the shower were awesome. The bed and pillows were super comfy.

Hotel on the river with not a single view of the river, window pointing to buildings of apartments and offices, was told that was one of the good rooms. No hot tub or pool, or bath tub to relax. The hallways to the rooms felt like a prison, all Grey n gloomy and cold. No carpet in any of the rooms or anywhere in the hotel (i asked)... winter outside with wet dirty boots= cold feet the whole time or keep boots on in room whole time..no rug, had to use bath towels... they should have carpet at least around the bed. Hotel was newly renovated, I imagine for the purpose to line pockets more cause everything but paint and walls were cheaply done. Made money on the paint job, 7 different colors and a wall paper in our super small room i think, with stand up shower that had black mildew and orange soap scum in grout and seals. As much as this Hotel charges for 1 single night (our wedding anniversary) we thought it was going to be the bomb! But a mini fridge was an extra charge. With a cheaper hotel at least I know to expect let downs and can prepare for them, most likely with cleanliness or the bed... idk. The bartender even ignored us, there were only 2 others at the bar. A simple acknowledgment would have been nice, but someone from somewhere else had to come and get ice for us, oh yea no ice machines. This place im sure is great for events that need the salon and ballroom and then a room to rest after such an event cause everyone had been drinking. It was a terrible choice for our anniversary night.
