Took the ferry from Galveston Island and drove down the road until we came to Crystal Beach. Parked on the sand and spent some time looking for shells and walking around in the water.
Im simply SHOCKED that its perfectly fine to drive on the beach- and its open 24 hrs: so since we're traveling the US on motorcycles- we are camping On The Beach. Soooo awesome!!!!
Always a pleasure to cross the ferry to Port Bolivar rather it be fishing or joy riding. Things are coming back nicely since Hurricane Harvey that's a tragedy we all won't forget. Come back stronger and better!
Need to get a permit to camp on Crystal Beach first. The store attendant said portable potties were on Crystal Beach. We found a spot very close to one which was convenient for camping with children. They loved camping on the beach!
This was a great place to camp for a few days. There are porta potties and a few trailers with flush toilets, running water, and outdoor rinse showers. There is also a pavillion with these facilities and picnic tables on Crystal Beach Road. It is just a good idea to prepare for wind and blowing sand at times. If you have a tent, you will need long tent stakes, for example.
