4-H Camp Palmer Inc, situated at 26450 County Road MN in Fayette, Ohio, is a distinctive entity within the "Campgrounds & RV Parks" category, though its primary focus is on youth development and outdoor education rather than traditional RV or tent site rentals for the general public. Founded in 1947 and privately owned by 4-H members in 11 Northwestern Ohio counties, it operates as a modern camping complex in conjunction with The Ohio State University and Ohio State University Extension. Its proud heritage centers on providing wholesome educational and recreational activities for youth, but it also serves as a valuable resource for adult groups and organizations seeking retreat and team-building opportunities.
The environment of 4-H Camp Palmer spans 146 acres of diverse landscape, nestled away in the woods adjacent to Harrison Lake State Park. This prime location offers a rich natural setting that is integral to its educational and recreational programs. The camp features a mix of woods, streams, and fields, providing a varied backdrop for outdoor learning and exploration. Harrison Lake and the surrounding forest serve as natural classrooms, offering opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and fishing. The environment is designed to foster a connection with nature, with specific areas dedicated to nature exposure, wetland classes, and stream studies where campers can engage in hands-on learning, examining local creatures and ecosystems. The presence of a covered bridge at the camp entrance adds a rustic charm, contributing to the overall outdoor aesthetic. The natural setting, combined with well-maintained facilities, creates an immersive and engaging environment for campers.
While not providing individual RV or tent sites for open public booking in the typical "Campgrounds & RV Parks" sense, 4-H Camp Palmer offers comprehensive services as a full-service camping and retreat facility. The core service is providing a unique opportunity for groups to host their own camping or retreat events. This means groups (such as school programs, band camps, churches, and adult organizations, in addition to 4-H county programs) provide their own schedule, counselors, campers, and program themes. In return, 4-H Camp Palmer provides the essential infrastructure:
4-H Camp Palmer boasts a wide array of features designed to facilitate youth development, outdoor education, and team building. These features go beyond basic camping amenities:
Promotional information for 4-H Camp Palmer Inc emphasizes its core mission of youth development and the wide range of educational and recreational opportunities it provides. Marketing highlights its strong tradition since 1947 of creating "camp magic" and lasting memories for youth. It promotes the camp as a place where campers "LEARN with sessions in canoeing, archery, line dancing, outdoor cooking plus dozens others," "HAVE FUN swimming, zip lining, singing and laughing at campfire and throughout the day," and "MAKE FRIENDS that last a lifetime." The camp actively collaborates with 11 Northwestern Ohio county 4-H programs, serving as their primary summer camp location. Promotions also target non-4-H members, encouraging them to experience the unique camp environment. Pricing is structured per camper for multi-day programs, with varying costs for 4-H members and non-members, often with early bird discounts and family/sibling discounts. Financial aid, or "camperships," are available for 4-H members, showcasing the non-profit's commitment to accessibility. The camp also promotes its facilities for rental by various user groups (schools, churches, etc.) as a venue for their own programs. Fundraising initiatives, such as the "Buckeye Funder" campaign, highlight the camp's reliance on community contributions to maintain facilities and keep fees low. While not a traditional campground with sites for daily public rental, 4-H Camp Palmer Inc effectively "sells" an immersive, structured educational and recreational experience, supported by its comprehensive facilities and dedicated staff, making it a pivotal institution within the broader landscape of outdoor and youth-focused programs.

Was here for a winter camp experience and loved it. Great facility with large dormers off of a central lounge area with log fireplace and split cafetería/activities room. Plus extra beautiful cabins with as many outdoor games that you can think of (gaga, 9-square, tether-ball, swings etc). They also have a huge approximate 100ftx100ft indoor barn that can be used from games during the winter time.
My daughter for the second year in a row has had a blast at 4h camp. She really enjoyed everything and everyone. She can't wait to go back next year. Everyone was very friendly at drop off and pick up. The camp and cabins are well kept and very nice.
We stayed here as a boy scout troop. The cabins and facilities were fantastic! Bill the head of the camp even came by saturday morning and drove us around to show us the 5 mile hiking trail we would be backpacking that day. It was a great experience!
By far one of my daughter’s favorite camps to go to.
It is a great place to have fun, teach others, and work together as a group.
