The East Fork Campgrounds are very beautiful. You will be completely immersed in the San Juan National Forest. The sites are very spacious and spread out. There are trails that lead down from the back edge of the campgrounds down to the San Juan River, though they can be a little steep in some areas. You can hear the river flowing from the campgrounds which provides an amazingly peaceful atmosphere. The vaulted toilets were clean and appeared to be well maintained. There are dumpsters available to deposit trash, and some of the sites have grills and picnic tables. I definitely will camp here again in the future.
It was our first time coming to Colorado to camp and boy were we glad we found this amazing site! Very clean, accessible, and conveniently spaced from town. Mary and buddy (the dog) were the campground hosts and they were amazing she kept everything clean and well stocked! Camping site has bathroom and toilet paper. Good place to camp and explore lots of trails and water!
Very nice little campground, just outside of Pagosa Springs, with the East Fork of the San Juan River running just behind it. Not too big, great tent sites.
Small campground tucked in the woods with ample shade from the pine trees. Access to town or bring your ATV. There is a huge parking lot to keep your trailer and then camp in one of these spots. We stayed in spot 18 and it was pretty level featuring a fire ring and a picnic table. There was no designated tent pad but plenty of room to pitch one. We also had super close access to the pit toilets which were brand new and super clean. This campground has a dumpster and spots are spaced far apart. Site 19 was unoccupied during our stay but is in the sun mid afternoon and doesn’t have as much privacy. Reserve online or wing it with the few first come first serve spots. No cell service here but just a short drive into pagosa springs
The camp host here was awesome. The campground appeared to be meticulously cared for including a cleanly swept campfire ring and the cleanest vault toilet I have ever been in (not a ranking I had intentionally been keeping track of, but if you see them, you’ll agree). Other reviews mentioned noisy OHV traffic but that was not the case for us on a September Friday night stay. Pagosa Springs was less than a 15 minute drive away and we also did the short hike at Treasure Falls making the location convenient with plenty of things to do. If you are camping with your pup though and head to Pagosa Springs, be warned that many restaurants with patio seating do not allow dogs on the patios. That was a new experience for us.
