Acres of Wildlife Campground Introduce
Acres of Wildlife Campground, located at 60 Acres of Wildlife Rd, Steep Falls, ME 04085, is a destination within the "Campgrounds & RV Parks" category that aims to provide a fun-filled experience for families. You can contact them at (207) 675-2267 or +1 207-675-2267.
According to recent visitor feedback, Acres of Wildlife Campground offers several appealing features, particularly for families with young children. The schedule is noted to have "plenty on" for this age group. The campground boasts a restaurant on-site, although its operating hours should be checked in advance. Additionally, a breakfast sandwich option is available at another location within the campground near the beach, where a friendly staff member works.
The campground features a nice beach area and multiple playgrounds for children. The camp store offers a decent selection of items. Its location is convenient for accessing the Sebago Lake area. A significant highlight mentioned is the availability of paddleboard rentals.
While the front desk staff is reported to be very pleasant during booking, some inconsistencies were noted with the staff in the camp store. One reviewer experienced discomfort due to a staff member's demeanor, suggesting a potential need for improved customer service in this area. Coffee enthusiasts should be aware that decent coffee might not be readily available within the campground, with only Keurig machines and Wal-mart brand pods for purchase in some accommodations like the treehouses. A trip off-site for better coffee could take around 45 minutes due to the rural location.
Issues with internal traffic were mentioned, including kids driving golf carts on the road, sometimes loudly and repeatedly pulling into empty campsites. The mini-golf area was observed to be uncleaned with debris, and the disc golf course appeared unmaintained despite being listed as an amenity.
The condition of the showers was noted as being in need of remodeling. One reviewer felt that resources might be disproportionately allocated towards golf cart rentals rather than campground upkeep.
On a positive note, many staff members were consistently described as extremely friendly and engaging, with numerous activities organized for guests, though not all families participated. The on-site store is well-stocked, carrying a wide variety of items. The bathrooms were reported to be very clean with a creative setup.
Challenges experienced by some visitors included a very long and bumpy entry road, making leaving and returning inconvenient. Some campsites were described as narrow, although long enough with a fire pit in the back. Getting into these sites could be difficult. However, the areas were generally quiet, and neighbors were often friendly. The proximity of campsites sometimes led to a feeling of being close to neighboring campers, potentially limiting conversational privacy.
In summary, Acres of Wildlife Campground offers a range of family-friendly amenities and a generally positive staff interaction. However, potential drawbacks include the condition of some facilities (mini-golf, disc golf, showers), inconsistencies in camp store service, the quality of on-site coffee, and the condition of the entry road and some campsites. Local users seeking a campground with numerous activities for young children and proximity to Sebago Lake should consider these points when planning their visit.

Stayed with my family in August. I wanted to love it. Pros: plenty on the schedule for young kids. I like that it has a restaurant . We weren’t able to go to the restaurant (we tried but it was closed that day- my fault for not checking the schedule). We did get some great breakfast sandwiches from another place on the campground near the beach and a very nice lady worked there. The beach area is nice. Many playgrounds. Camp store selection isn’t bad. Close to Sebago area. There are paddle board rentals which were a big highlight! When I booked our cabin the front desk was very pleasant. Cons: The people that work in the camp store are hit or miss and sometimes treat you more like a nuisance than a guest. The dark haired young man made us super uncomfortable. Maybe we caught him on a bad week, but without knowing for sure I’d say he lacks people skills and because he’s young I think he needs feedback so he can grow and learn. (Also, not really a pro or con but just a note to fellow coffee fans: bring your own coffee if you can or plan accordingly. We were in one of the treehouses and there is no decent coffee on the campground just a Keurig with Wal-mart brand pods you need to purchase. Because it takes 10 minutes alone just off the campground due to the rural proximity a run for decent coffee is at least 45 minutes). Kids going back and forth the road on a golf cart blaring music and shouting and pulling into empty camp sites, one of which was right next to ours, on repeat. I have teenagers myself so I could deal, but considering many other reviews say similar things I thought it was worth mentioning. We chose Acres of Wildlife because it had mini golf and disc golf, but the mini golf was not cleaned and had debris everywhere, and the disc golf course was not maintained (why even bother mentioning it on your website?) Showers are due for a remodel. We’ve camped at plenty of places and while this one has sooo much potential, it feels like they spend a lot of money on golf carts to be able to provide rentals instead of the actual campground. Maybe we’ll give it another chance someday but improvements could be made.
Every staff person we spoke to is extremely friendly and engaging. They constantly had activities going, although our family did not partake. The on-site store literally had anything you could think of. Bathrooms were very clean, and we liked the creative set up. This is the reason for a higher rating than I would normally give. Our challenges were the entry road. It was extremely long and extremely bumpy causing us to dread ever needing to leave the Campground. Our site was very narrow, but long enough and had an area in the back for the fire. It was not easy getting into the site, but once we did, it was OK. It was very quiet in our area, and the people next to us were very nice on either side. This worked out well since they were extremely close. We did enjoy the fire pit being in the back of the site. However, I felt like we were sitting with our neighbors and afraid to disturb them by even having a conversation. With all of this said there was nothing the staff could have done differently, it just happens to be the layout of this area, so we did not say anything to anyone. We enjoyed the quiet and the kindness of the staff.
The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us. We had a couple little hiccups but maintenance was there quickly to fix things. The road coming into the park is a bit rough and the mini golf needs some repairs. But we had a great time with our family reunion and everyone was happy with our choice with Acres of Wildlife Campground.
We booked during the week so we did go in knowing the restaurant and snack shack wouldn't be open this time of year during the week but we sure did miss them! We made sure to bring our own meals to cook. It was however super quiet since there were only a few campers in our section which really made up for it!! This is our 2nd time here and we will definitely be back. The staff is great and the campground is a really good one!!highly recommend!
I remember coming here year after year with my best friend and his family when I was a kid. Absolutely some of the best times I've had and now that it's been over 15 years I truly miss this place. Scuba Steve in the summer. Magic shows, hypnotists, games activities were endless. The Halloween weekends and haunted hayride was great. You guys are awesome and glad to see this place is still thriving.
So we had a weekend planned here for Memorial Day!! Very excited. A few days ago we had our camper stolen. With plenty of advance notice I simply called and asked for a refund due to scenario. They said no sorry. Then after losing $60 I got a partial refund and I was charged to cash their check at their bank. Turned a fun weekend into a little rethinking where to go next time. Very disappointed…… Thanks Josh
