Adirondack Gateway Campground is conveniently situated at 244 Burt Rd, Cold Brook, NY 13324, USA. This address places it squarely within Herkimer County, a region that serves as a literal gateway to the expansive Adirondack Park. For New Yorkers, especially those residing in the Capital Region, Central New York, or even parts of the Hudson Valley, Cold Brook is a relatively accessible drive, offering a genuine sense of escape without an overly burdensome journey.
From major cities like Albany, Utica, or Syracuse, reaching Cold Brook typically involves a drive of one to two hours, primarily on well-maintained state routes. The journey itself often provides a scenic introduction to the rural beauty of upstate New York, transitioning from agricultural landscapes to more forested and rolling terrain as you approach the Adirondack foothills. Customer Reviews
Full disclosure before my review: You may like this type of campground, but it wasn't for us. Very rustic, small, quiet campground in the middle of nowhere. Outbuildings are a little run down. There is a pool, but it was covered by heavy plastic, I guess to keep leaves out or grass clippings. It appears that the grounds are well kept. Most of the seasonal sites are well kept with newer units. There are no activities. We stayed here based on other reviews. Unfortunately, we can't say we agreed. We stayed one night. Other than the Herkimer Diamond Mines, there's nothing do here. The owner, Ann, was very nice.
Beautiful quiet place to be at. They have an in ground pool and bathrooms. There is a hiking trail too. Overall nice place and family owned.
This has been one of my favourite campgrounds on our entire trip! I was really nervous after looking at the website and seeing they don't accept online bookings. However they put us in a back in opposite a huge field, full hookups, lots of trails and places to run the dogs, great internet! . Laundry facility was good. Restrooms are a little dated but we don't need to use those as we have the RV. The owners are just so lovely and kind. Really enjoyed our stay here. Will upload more photos as I get them
This place is a really nice campground. The sites were spacious and had full hook ups. We had a pull through and it was level and very easy to set up at. The people were all so friendly, we felt very comfortable here.
The owners are exceptional. They constantly work to maintain and keep the campground clean and tidy. It is always nicely mowed . They are very welcoming and will help you any way possible. Very nice sites s d roomy. People around are nice and respectful. It is very affordable and has some amenities as well. Nice private campground without all the loudness and traffic going by. Definitely peaceful and has a very safe feeling. The owners do a tremendous job!!!
