A beautiful, Salt Lake City managed campground, pleasant, short ride from downtown. Excellent for #S24O bike-packing trips :-) Wake to the sound of a rippling creek. Well maintained pit toilets.
This is one of our favorite spots to camp because it is so close yet feels so secluded. The campground rarely gets loud and because there is a gated entrance, there isn't much traffic. Just wish there were potable water available.
Ensure you have the gate code to get in! There is only one entry road and the gate stays locked at all times. This could potentially delay emergency response or prevent the campground from evacuating in the event of a wildfire. Locking the only exit is always dangerous.
🌲🏕️ Experience the Beauty of Affleck Park We recently spent two unforgettable nights at Affleck Park, and it was an absolute delight. Nestled in the stunning East Canyon, this campsite offers a truly immersive nature experience that is sure to leave you rejuvenated and inspired. 🚗🏔️ Accessible and Breathtaking Location Getting to Affleck Park is a breeze, with easy access and proximity to the breathtaking East Canyon. As soon as we arrived, we were captivated by the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and the serene atmosphere that enveloped us. 🚙⛰️ East Canyon Reservoir: Just a Short Drive Away For those seeking additional adventure, East Canyon Reservoir is just a short car ride away from Affleck Park. We took the opportunity to explore this picturesque reservoir and had an absolute blast. Whether it's fishing, boating, or simply relaxing by the shimmering waters, East Canyon Reservoir offers something for everyone. 🏞️🌊 Nature's Playground at Your Doorstep One of the highlights of our stay was the proximity to a charming little stream/river. The kids absolutely loved exploring the areas surrounding the campsite, and the presence of the tranquil water feature added an extra touch of magic to their adventures. 💧❌ No Hookups or Running Water - A Consideration It's important to note that Affleck Park does not offer hookups or running water. While this may be a deterrent for some, we found it to be an opportunity to disconnect from the busy world and fully immerse ourselves in nature's embrace. Just be prepared and plan accordingly. 🌟🏕️ A Truly Memorable Experience Overall, our time at Affleck Park was an unforgettable experience. If you're aware of the absence of running water and showers at the campground and embrace the rustic charm it offers, you're sure to have a fantastic time. We would have given it a five-star rating if it had running water, but we were fully informed before our arrival.
Large, very secluded campsites with a creek running pretty close. No potable water. Beautiful area. Vault toilets and campsites were clean. Campsites were so secluded that many of them were quite a hike from the toilets. We had a tent and two hammocks. I had to set up my hammock at an adjacent site because the foliage was so dense and there weren't a lot of lone trees. Beautiful, quiet area. It also took a while to book the campsite online, but was worth it.
Very close to the city but far enough out and off the road that we didn't hear any traffic. There's a historic trail you can hike with great views! No fires allowed when we went up but we had a stove/cooker the ranger approved that worked great. Gentle water sounds, lots of shade trees and cozy spots for tents, made for a great overnight getaway.
