Santa Ana winds delayed me, but I still enjoyed the indoor hot springs. Parking near the pools is limited. My big truck was a hassle. The park has a one-way loop. The hot springs were chlorinated, but helped my skin and muscles. My campsite was beautiful, and the ranger escorted me since it was dark. Nobody camped near me! Huge trees – not like a desert at all. It got down to 40°, so I slept in my truck. My site had a table and fire pit. I had to leave early (5:00 am). Next time, I'll plan better so I can enjoy the hot pools more. I'm surprised someone said the outdoor pools were cold – they're closed in summer! The ranger said they have a skeleton crew then, and it's 100° at night. The scenery at sunrise and sunset is beautiful. Next time, I'll combine state park dispersed camping with the hot springs and bring my cat (who's never camped but is getting old).
This place is wonderful! Friendly rangers and volunteers, scenic, with partial/full hookups or tent camping. Dogs allowed on leash (and cleaned up after) on paved and dirt roads (not trails). Great hot pools (one indoor, two outdoor). It's in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park (650,000 acres of scenery, recreation, quiet, and dark skies). You'll love it!
I really like this campground. Well-maintained, spacious sites, nice views. Clean restrooms and showers. Hot springs pools (2 outdoor, 1 indoor heated to 102° for 14+) are cleaned daily. Every site has a fire pit (wood from ranger station). The camp store is closed; nearest ice is 18 miles. RVers: bring leveling blocks. Newer power hookups (20/30/50 amp). Full hookups have convenient water/sewer. Every site has a picnic bench. They have rustic cabins for rent (sleeping platforms, heated/cooled, table/chairs, fire ring, sink, toilet – bring your own gear, sleeping pad, bedding, pillows, cooking gear). The ranger staff is professional, friendly, and helpful.
Well-maintained, secluded desert oasis! So glad we found this place. We can't wait to explore more. Plan for the cooler months!
I've camped here 5 times in November, and it's always warm enough during the day for hiking or swimming. I can't wait for spring to see the desert flowers.
