Agua Piedra Campground Introduce
Welcome to Agua Piedra Campground, located on Forest Service Rd 708, Vadito, NM 87579. As a part of the 'Campgrounds & RV Parks' category, this campground offers scenic camping with natural beauty, but with some considerations.
Agua Piedra Campground is praised for its beautiful scenery, especially during late July when fields of wildflowers bloom. The campground provides basic amenities such as fire pits, picnic tables, and flat tent spots. The bathrooms are described as decent, and some intermittent cell service is available.
The group site at Agua Piedra is particularly noted for its privacy and the cabin fireplace, which is especially useful during July monsoons. This makes it an excellent option for group outings and gatherings.
However, some campers have noted that the campsites feel close together, which can limit privacy. Also, as with many campgrounds, quiet hours are not always observed by all campers. A significant concern raised by visitors is the water's strong sulfur odor, which may be unpleasant.
Despite these drawbacks, the campground's natural beauty and amenities make it a desirable destination for those seeking a scenic camping experience.
Agua Piedra Campground offers beautiful scenery, wildflowers, and a private group site with a cabin fireplace. However, potential campers should be aware of potential close campsites, noise, and sulfur-smelling water.
For inquiries, contact the Carson National Forest ranger station. Visitors should be prepared for potential water odor and bring their own drinking water if sensitive to sulfur smells.
Customers highlight the beautiful scenery and group site, but also note the potential close campsites, noise, and sulfur-smelling water.

Nice campground with fire pit, picnic table, and flat spot for tent. Decent bathrooms. Some intermittent cell service. Personally, the camping spots feel kind of close together and (as with any campground) folks don’t follow the quiet hours but all in all a beautiful place.
This is a beautiful campground. There were fields of wildflowers on late July. The Group site is private and the fireplace in the cabin is clutch with July monsoons. The only negative thing I'd note is that the water has a VERY pungent smell of sulphur.
This was our second time staying at Agua Piedra. We love the campground. There are outhouse type facilities with a place to get water for washing. It smelled bleachy so I wouldn't recommend drinking it. There are firepits and grills at each camping spot. Beautiful views to be seen everywhere. Can't wait to get back.
Great campground, hiking trails right in the campground, as well as trails within a short driving distance. Vault toilets were clean. We dry-docked with our 21-foot trailer.
Amazing campground. Grounds were clean and well maintained. Bathroom was stocked with toilet paper and has a cleanliness chart on the door. Will return again.
