Cool little spot with a creek running through it. Pretty quiet. Not very leveled in some areas. But nice and quiet. Kind of hidden.
A few spots with fire pits and camp tables. Restroom on site. More spaces down the road without tables or fire pits. Appears to be a logging road. Some phone reception. Beautiful location. Pack it in pack it out. #isamazingjourney
Perhaps my experience was unique to me. While the location and scenery, being so close to 89 and right by the Upper McCloud River, were fantastic, on the night I was there (a Thursday morning) logging trucks began coming up and down the road by the campsite non-stop from 3 am every five minutes until I left. Even with earplugs one cannot block out the sound of the trucks driving and the echo from up the road. I was alone in the campground but it could get crowded fast if there were other people. At any rate, it is a free campground and one cannot complain too much!
Quite close to Mt Shastha & Burney falls. Near to small river, nice campgrounds. Not far from highway & paved road.
Such a beautiful place. Quite and close but seems so far away. Dispersed camping for free with a vault toilet. Great hiking trails. Be sure to get there early. There are 9 camp spots and you will need a fire permit that can be obtained online for free through the forest service website.
