Visitors have praised Alsea Falls Campground for its seclusion and natural beauty, with many highlighting the serene environment and scenic views. However, some reviews mention issues with the BLM reservation system, which can lead to confusion between first-come-first-served and reserved sites. It is recommended to research the campground thoroughly before planning your trip.

Despite these minor drawbacks, Alsea Falls Campground continues to be a favorite among nature lovers who appreciate the unique blend of tranquility and adventure. The off-grid experience, combined with easy access to hiking trails and river activities, makes it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a true connection with nature.

Nestled in an old-growth forest, Alsea Falls campground offers a serene, off-grid retreat with 16 drive-in and 5 walk-in tent sites. The separation of these areas can be inconvenient for larger groups. The campground is remote, with no electricity or cell service, and features pit toilets, fire pits, and picnic tables. Campsites are spacious, private, and well-maintained, surrounded by lush foliage. The area has numerous hiking and biking trails with direct river access. Bear spray is recommended due to the wild nature of the area. The winding road from Alsea offers scenic views, while the route from Monroe is easier. The BLM reservation system needs improvement to avoid double-bookings. With the FF and scan-to-pay versus manual-pay, verify site availability before paying and mark it with your equipment and pay slip. Despite these issues, Alsea Falls offers a unique and enjoyable camping experience. With better reservation management, it would easily earn five stars. Always research BLM campsites before your trip as they have different booking windows for online reservations and slightly different management of sites.

Long drive up a winding and at times rough road. Be sure to have a reservation before you go. As it looks like a nice and very secluded campground. I made the trip (7/25/24 & early) for a "1st come - 1st serve" camp spot and found the 3 "available" spots taken the day before. - A STAR for not properly updating the website for camp spot(s) availability.

Campground was quiet, clean, host on site. Vaulted toilets were tidy with plenty of toilet paper. Beautiful area, short hike to falls from campground. Fortunately, we stayed just one night, and here's why. The pea gravel campsites are not only extremely uncomfortable for sleeping, but it was near impossible to pound in a tent stake. Every step could be heard on the gravel that covered the entire fence enclosed camp area. Picnic table was made of resin instead of wood, which is fine Toilets did not stink, although, during the day, the flies were so bad inside that you dared not breathe with your mouth open. It was like Amityville Horror when you opened the door. Not that you'd want to after seeing the number of them coming and going from under the closed door. Put it this way, I'm glad I had a bucket and T.P. Fire ban in place, but that's expected during fire season. All of that aside, the forest and falls are more than worth the stay. Oh! Watch out for the occasional bus sized banana slug crossing the path!

We stay here every year for an event in May. We had all but 2 sites booked. We really enjoy a friendly, family based environment for our electric bikes, scooter, OneWheels and unicycle. It's a stellar place to camp. We'll keep on coming back to this side of heaven for the trails, the water, the sendy riding and the seclusion of quiet nature. And, of course, the epic adventures and party stoke. Our group wants to come more often!!! Thanks to all who came and are interested.

Spent a week camping here at Alsea Falls Campground, over the Labor Day week. Was very nice, but very busy on the holiday weekend! The campground itself is lovely, more remote and small, only 16 sites and not for large trailers or motorhomes! No hookups. Has pit toilets that are kept very clean and sanitized by the camp hosts and trash service. The sites are well kept, no trash! It is perfect for the tent, van or small trailer campers! Had alot of mountain bike riders as the trailhead is just about a block or so down the street from the campground. Only had one family that had noisy, crying kids and barking dogs, but they finally left on Monday Labor Day! Yay!!! It was SO peaceful after they had gone home! We enjoyed our stay here, and you have to make reservations on Recreation.gov website, ($12 per night), as spaces fill up quickly during the summer! During the weekdays you may get to snag a "first come, first serve" walk-up site, but I would make a reservation to be sure! πŸ˜πŸ‘

Really nice campground. No attendants working on site and the bathroom is basically an outhouse. But it’s fine, cheap to stay (like $15 a night), theirs a toilet at least with toilet paper, running water taps, and most of the campsites have a picnic table and a fire pit.
