Customer Reviews
Stayed off-season, so the place was quiet. The room was clean, but our first had a moldy fridge and we asked to be moved without difficulty. The staff was very responsive and helpful. The room was clean and tidy, and extra linens and blankets were available. The breakfast could be improved. Although there were few guests, the available scrambled eggs were cold/room temp in the chafing dish. The pastry trays appeared to reuse the same foil between days and I saw the pastries being returned to an unwashed container at the end of the day. They are likely kept there overnight, but I would expect it to be washed each day. Probably better fare in the summer months, due to higher volume, but even with few guests I would expect the same attention to cleaning and food prep. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and will return if the opportunity arises.
I stayed here for just 1 night with my husband and my dog. We came from out of town and wanted a hotel that was pet friendly and within our budget. The room size was great and the bed was very comfortable. We didn't have any issues and enjoyed our stay.
Room was clean, service was acceptable. Breakfast was shit. The pool, cold had a large ball of hair floating around in the bottom. The hot whirlpool was about bath water temperature if that. The Sauna not working, had two dehumidifier’s stored in it with a sign saying “Out of order.” Years ago this was a nice place to stay. There are better options in the area.
This American Inn is especially convient for Douglas and Saugatuck, Michigan. As advertised, very nice on the outside. Nice breakfast nook, pool, laundry and vending machines. Advertised as handicap accessible, however, the hotel does NOT have an elevator, but staff changed my room to the first floor to accommodatemy mobility needs. They gave us an early check-in option at no cost. When I asked for late check out, they accommodated that for us as well. Looks they are updating some rooms to wood flooring. Which would be a nice upgrade to the carpet. Very nice lobby. Internet and cable provided. There was a nice size mini frig in the room along with a coffee pot, blow dryer and nice large furniture for longer stays. No microwave, that would make a good addition to the rooms or in the breakfast area. Overall nice experience.
Date of stay - September 2024 I can't say enough good things about our stay here. The hotel was clean and well kept, the beds were very comfortable, the parking lot was well lit, the staff were very nice. We were travelling with a dog, and found the hotel calm and quiet, with a lot of grass outside.
