Antelope Annex Campground Introduce

Welcome local outdoor enthusiasts! If you're searching for a serene escape within the Boise National Forest, consider Antelope Annex Campground. Categorized under Campgrounds & RV Parks, this location offers a natural environment perfect for those looking to immerse themselves in Idaho's beauty.

Environment: Situated within the Boise National Forest near Ola, Idaho, Antelope Annex Campground provides a picturesque setting. While specific details about the landscape aren't extensively available, reviews suggest proximity to a lake offering opportunities for fishing. Recent feedback indicates that the surrounding forest, including the nearby Sagehen area, has experienced a significant caterpillar presence affecting the trees. While the long-term impact is uncertain, visitors should be aware of this current environmental factor.

Services and Features: Based on customer reviews, Antelope Annex Campground appears to cater well to larger groups needing multiple campsites. One reviewer specifically noted its suitability for accommodating families with eight or more people, suggesting the availability of adjacent or nearby sites. The presence of a lake indicates potential access to water-based activities, and the positive mention of "great fishing" will appeal to anglers.

Important Considerations: Recent visitor experiences highlight a significant issue with caterpillars in the area. One review strongly advises heeding any warnings about caterpillars, describing them as "AWFUL" and detailing severe allergic reactions experienced by young children. This is a crucial factor to consider when planning your visit, particularly if traveling with young children or individuals with allergies. Additionally, the close proximity of campsites for smaller groups is mentioned, so if you are not part of a larger party, be prepared for potentially close neighbors.

Promotional Information: Antelope Annex Campground could be an ideal choice for large families or groups seeking adjacent campsites in the Boise National Forest. The presence of a fishable lake adds to its appeal for those who enjoy angling. However, prospective visitors should be aware of the current caterpillar situation, as reported by recent campers, and take necessary precautions. For reservations and the most up-to-date information, please contact them at (208) 373-4100 or +1 208-373-4100. The campground is located at Boise National Forest, Forest Road #609A, Ola, ID 83657.

Sagehen is our go to campground, but the amount of spaces that can be reserved far ounumbers those that cannot. This means its very difficult to get a spot up there unless you leave on a Thursday or very early Friday morning. We got a space in the Antelope Annex for the first time ever and I was honestly impressed. If you have a larger group and need two camp sites this place is perfect (of not then you will be really close to other campers, like you cant tell where one camp site ends and another begins) we have 8 in our family and then grandma and grandpa came so it was perfect! However, do not take the Caterpillar warning from the website lightly! It is AWFUL!!!! We had them falling from the trees onto us, into our food, and into our coolers. I was flicking 3 to 4 off of me every couple of seconds. My 2 year old wokw up with what looked like chicken pox welts all over his stomach and they slowly spread to all over his body. He was having an allergic reaction to the caterpillars 😕 Its been two weeks and these spots are still not fully gone, and they itch like mad! My 1 year old had a vomiting attack that ended once we got home which we believe was also a reaction to the caterpillars. Also, I have never seen sagehen look so dead. It appears as though 75% of the trees are "dead" however they are apparently not but instead this is what the caterpillars do to the trees. Some may not make it and will die but hopefully the forest will recover. Again, normally our favorite place but over crowding and these caterpillars have kimd of changed our perspective on the place.

Great little campground. Even with sites full there was plenty of room on the lake and it had great fishing.
