I came out here simply to catch a view of the comet. Nice dark skies for star gazing. I was only here a few hours but I will be back to do some camping and get more photos of the stars!
I have camped at 11 mile, Mueller, and numerous other campgrounds between the Springs and Hartsel. All were fee based. All had full hookups. But not one offered the beauty, as was captured at sunsets, like Antero, that has no hookups. But there are nice toilets and numerous trash areas that are cleaned about once a week. It is, without any doubt, the most spacious between sites, and very relaxing. Even the fishing is free, with proper fishing license. I hope to come again in the near future.
free camping 1st come first serve, the spots are a little to close where you can hear neighbors snore. and there a tons of little bugs everywhere get into food while trying to prepare and in your mouth and nose everywhere.
Pulled in on a Saturday afternoon, after scouting a spot 45 mins prior near Lake George with wayyy too many ATVs… Guess we lucked out!?! Pulled up here, there were a 7-9 spots open and we got a pretty dang good one- No issues with our 30ft Jayco… Gorgeous views and amazing two weeks… Great service too to work remote!!
Loved this spot. Great views and a very nice free place. The even had trash cans.
