Antique Acres Campground is situated in Cedar Falls, IA 50613, USA. Antique Acres Campground offers essential services designed for a comfortable and authentic camping experience, particularly appealing to those who appreciate a simpler, more community-focused outdoor stay.
-
Campsites with Water & Electric Hookups: The campground provides sites equipped with both water and electrical connections (20 Amp and 30 Amp outlets), catering to both RVs and tent campers who desire these conveniences. This is a crucial offering for many modern campers.
-
Dump Station: A dedicated dump station is available on the property for Antique Acres campers, ensuring proper disposal of waste from RVs and trailers.
-
Open Area Camping: In addition to hookup sites, Antique Acres also offers open area camping options for those who prefer a more rustic experience or for groups requiring larger, less defined spaces.
-
Basic Shower House: While one review noted it "wasn't great," a shower house is available for campers' use, providing a facility for personal hygiene. It's important for campers to manage expectations regarding this amenity, as it may be more utilitarian than luxurious.
-
Picnic Tables: Most, if not all, sites are likely to include picnic tables for outdoor dining and gathering, a standard and much-appreciated amenity at campgrounds.
-
Fire Rings: Campers can typically expect fire rings at their sites, perfect for cooking, warmth, and traditional campfire experiences under the Iowa night sky.
-
Hall with Kitchen Facilities: For larger groups or during special events, the availability of an air-conditioned hall with kitchen facilities is a significant asset, offering a comfortable space for gatherings, meals, and shelter.
-
Shelter and Stage: The presence of a shelter and stage indicates that the campground is well-equipped to host events, performances, or communal activities, especially during the famous "Old Time Power Show."
What truly sets Antique Acres Campground apart and makes it a unique highlight for Iowans is its deep connection to agricultural history and its role as a living museum.
-
Home of the Annual Old Time Power Show: This is arguably the most significant feature. Every August, Antique Acres hosts its renowned "Old Time Power Show," attracting enthusiasts from across the region. This event features demonstrations of antique threshing, steam, plowing, and sawmilling machinery, offering a captivating step back in time. Campers during this period get a front-row seat to these historical spectacles.
-
Museum with Antique Farm Equipment: Beyond the annual show, Antique Acres maintains a museum on its grounds that houses a large collection of old farm machinery, some more than 100 years old. Visitors can tour this museum, gaining insight into the evolution of agriculture and the ingenuity of past generations of Iowa farmers.
-
Demonstrations and Exhibits: The review mentions "lots of demonstrations and Exhibits," suggesting that even outside of the major annual show, there are opportunities to see antique machinery in action or learn about historical farming practices. This hands-on, educational aspect is a distinct draw.
-
Iowa's Merci Boxcar: A unique historical artifact, Iowa's Merci Boxcar, is also featured on the site. These 49 "Merci" (Gratitude) Boxcars were sent by France to each of the U.S. states in 1949 as a thank you for American aid after World War II. Its presence adds another layer of historical significance.
-
Peaceful, Rural Setting: Despite its historical attractions, the campground maintains a serene, rural ambiance. Reviewers note it as "quiet," suggesting a tranquil environment perfect for relaxation when events aren't in full swing.
-
Community and Shared Interest: The campground attracts individuals who share an interest in antique machinery and history, fostering a sense of community among campers and visitors, especially during events. This creates a friendly and engaging atmosphere.
-
Approx. 12 Sites: The small number of sites (approximately 12, according to a review) contributes to a more intimate and less crowded camping experience, which can be a significant advantage for those seeking a peaceful retreat.

What a wonderful campground where we were sadly the only occupants. The pictures don't do the campground justice. I wish I had taken some pictures to post of my own. Approx 12 sites. The shower house wasn't great, but we didn't need to use it, so it wasn't an issue for us. Water & Electric and dump site on property.
