I really enjoy this campground. There are reservable and 1st come only sites. It is rustic so no electric or flush toilets. You may hear the occasional generator. Dog friendly with exception to the beach area. There is plenty to do whether hiking, fishing, boating or just taking in the great outdoors. Mere minutes outside of Eagle River. If you enjoy a more rustic, small campground, this is a gem.

The lake and swimming area are great. The topography of the campground changes a lot from the sites on top of the hill all the way down to the lake so a heavy downpour impacts the lower sites the most. Our campsite was about half way down and the ground never dried-out. Bring some heavy-duty tent stakes to get through the rocky ground too.

I made a mistake and stayed a day longer than I should have. When the Ranger came to talk to me, he was so nice and polite. It would’ve been so easy for him to be rude. This is the way rangers should treat the public. If it all possible, I will be back.

Fantastic clear-water sand-bottom swimming beach. Highway noise is audible from most campsites, but the highway gets very little traffic overnight. Hand pump by the waterfront has not been in-service for years; plan to walk uphill to the main wellhouse if you take a lakefront site.

Had a great time with family, vault toilets are as clean as I've ever seen them. Props to the Host! You can hear the road traffic though, if quiet is critical to your camping trip you may want to find a more remote campground.
