Water spiket close by, clean bathrooms, good shade, big fire pit, just a few hundred feet from the paved road. Has frequent visitors (reservation only) and so not much dead wood around. Lots of loose dirt and dust that can blow around.
Great campground for a large group! Proximity to the dam boat launch and Dutch John was nice! Short drive to walk down to fish the river below the dam. There was no water at our specific spot but they appear to be working on getting it there with electricity. There was potable water in the middle of all the group sites. Also nice to have bathrooms even if they are non flushing. Plenty of trees and bushes, no squirrels or chipmunks, plenty of lizards and a few snakes. No real concern for bear with the proximity to the road, cliff, dam and City.
This place was exactly what I hoped it would be! We just held a huge camp event for a ton of young men in our area. We reserved both sites 1 and 3 to fit everyone and they worked out great. There was only 1 water spigot that both sites shared which was a ways for some camps to carry, but it's better than nothing. Lots of small camp fire rings with one big one for each site. Only one of the sites had a pavilion
Perfect campground for those large groups. New picnic tables and fire rings installed this spring. A little costlier than say campground in Dutch John that's only 4 miles away.
Clean and well maintained. I saw the cleaning crew there at the outhouses and the outhouses weren't even dirty. Easy access to the dam and dutch john. Roads that aren't rough.
