Archusa Creek Park Introduce

Introduction / Overview

Archusa Creek Park, officially managed by the Pat Harrison Waterway District, is a long-standing and beloved outdoor recreation destination nestled in the serene, wooded landscape near Quitman, Mississippi. For local residents, this park has traditionally represented a fantastic place for fishing, boating, and family camping, centered around the beautiful 450-acre Archusa Creek Lake.

While the park continues to be a peaceful and essential part of the East Mississippi outdoor community, it is crucial for users to be aware of the current status of the main water feature. Following a significant dam breach, the lake has been temporarily drained, meaning the water-based activities that the park was once famous for—such as fishing, water skiing, and swimming in the lake—are on hold as of this writing. Despite this major temporary change, the park remains open and offers a beautifully quiet and shaded camping experience.

Management and local authorities are actively working on a restoration plan for the dam, with funding and repair efforts already underway and projected for completion in the near future. This means that while you currently won't enjoy a full lake, you will find an exceptionally tranquil and quiet environment. The park’s camping areas, cabins, lodge hall, and land-based recreational features are fully operational, making it a perfect spot for those seeking a truly peaceful retreat away from the noise and activity often found at water-sport-heavy campgrounds.

The staff at Archusa Creek Park are consistently noted by guests for being friendly, helpful, and accommodating, ensuring a smooth booking and check-in process. This commitment to guest service, combined with the commitment to facility upgrades—including a nice new bridge connecting the RV loops—demonstrates the park's dedication to its long-term future as a premier Mississippi outdoor destination.

The lake has no water in it, because the dam broke. Not sure how long the lake has been dry. It is very quie place, because of no water sports going on So if someone is looking for a very quiet environment and doesn't need to be swimming or fishing etc. This is a good place for them. I personally at least like to get in the water and cool off, and maybe occasionally fish. But that's not possible at Archusa right now.

We love Archusa Creek Water Park! Beautiful place to stay! Love the experience of listening to the church bells chime from the other side of the lake. It’s just beautiful and very peaceful! Ladies at check in desk are very nice and helpful with info, booking, and check-in process. I would’ve given 5 stars but Park still needs some upgrades. On a previous visit we got to our RV spot and there was no grill. Could’ve brought our own but they do have grills on some spots and we already knew that. A lot of the grills are pretty rusted and falling apart. The disc golf course really needs some maintenance especially in the back part of the park where pull thru RV spots are located. They have a brand new bridge that connects both RV loops and it is so nice, so updates are in progress. Keep up the great work! See you again soon! 👍

So we come down every August with my husband and my mother in law to check on property. We always stay here and if you ever call and talk to Chris tell him Mrs. Allen sent you😉 This time we stayed a week and I got to wash this time around. They were a lil dirty but I called and they swiftly came out and cleaned them for me. The washer and dryer are $1.25 to wash and dry. This place is very beautiful and breathtaking the serenity is everything ❤️ Thank you for making our stay perfect 🫶 Until next year!! Thank Ya'll for everything 🫡
