Customer Reviews
If this place wasn't so far off the main road I would've given it five stars. But it's remoteness makes it unique, private and serene, at least when we were there last August 2016. We came later in the evening and left early morning , but the time in between was pleasant and incredible for early-morning, quiet walks along the lake. The host was a hoot, & fun to talk to as we quickly started up a fire and made dinner. No pesky animals until Bluejay & squirrels the next morning ha ha I'd highly recommend this place, as an out-of-the-way retreat. We were one of the few in the campground so maybe it's more active earlier in the summer.
Camped here 1 night (June 2023) while motorcycle touring thru the area. Quiet! Roomy sites. Well-maintained by the camp hosts, who are also a very friendly couple. Tents only. $12.50 per night with the US Golden Age card. Perfect stop for a motorcycle adventure.
One of the best campgrounds I've been to. No need for bear boxes as there are none. Lake is beautiful, shallow for kids and not windy. Good for swimming and paddle boards.
Lake camping without a bear problem. WALK-IN tent camping (only), flush toilets (nice), aspens need more sunlight - so hope the NFS cuts back the abundant conifer trees.
Love this camping spot. Been here twice now and used it as a base to explore Lassen National Park and the Caribou Wilderness. Make sure to take the short cut to the National Park to save about 40 minutes. The lovely host at the camp site will fill you in on how to do that. There is also easy access to the lake about a five minute walk from the camp. There are flush toilets and running water, fire pits and wood piles for $5 each. The campsites are very large with soft pine needle on the ground. Most campsites are any easy walk from the parking lot and there are wheelbarrows to cart gear for those that are a few hundred yards away.
