Had blast of a weekend here last year. One of the best places to see the sunrise. You can book campsites here. Assateague Island is a stunning, peaceful getaway with pristine beaches, wild ponies, and diverse wildlife. It’s perfect for nature lovers, offering activities like beachcombing, hiking, and birdwatching. The island’s clear waters and less-crowded beaches make it a relaxing escape. The wild ponies are a major highlight, and there are great camping spots for those who want to fully immerse themselves in nature. Overall, Assateague is a beautiful, laid-back destination worth visiting.

We visited Assateague Island in July of this year and we had a great experience. It was not overly crowed and there was plenty of space between us and others who were enjoying the beach. Beach is overall well kept and maintained. I did not notice any trash or plastic on the sand or floating in the water. One of the greatest things about this beach is that it is home to over a hundred wild horses. This visit we got to hang out with a family the entire day (within reasonable distance). Assateague also offers a section where you can drive your vehicle directly onto the beach. You do have to have a permit for this. Otherwise, there are several lots that offer ample parking. Assateague is a must visit for beach goers and horse lovers.

This place is naturally beautiful. Highly recommend renting a boat (if you don't already have one), coast out, and let nature come to you!! The horses are gorgeous, just don't get to close they are wild!

We had the chance to enjoy Assateague Island on a Sunday - Thanksgiving weekend. There were many visitors to the island and we had a wonderful time driving around, stopping, taking short walks and enjoying the ocean. We saw a ton of wild horses in various locations as well as other wildlife. We would love to return again someday!

This is one of our most favorite places to visit. It is just south of Ocean City. There is a fee to enter the park. They have day, 7 day, and annual passes. The experience is well worth the price. You will see all kinds of nature, including many different species of birds, fish and absolutely wild horses. Pack a picnic because there are plenty of beautiful place to stop and eat with a beautiful view. The views are stunning. P.S. Bring bug srapy.
