Customer Reviews
Fantastic lodge, staff, location, hiking, food, and overall experience. Everything about our time at Mt. Assiniboine Lodge was outstanding. The team working there go over and above to make sure you have a great time. Rooms are cozy and rustic -- what you should expect from a lodge from this era. The rooms were clean. The pillows soft. The duvet warm. We stayed in the lodge, and slept with the windows open -- enjoying the cool September air. The cabins looked nice too. The food is dreamy. One supper was melt-in-your-mouth risotto with a delicious chicken. The next was steak with cauliflower. Breakfasts were also well set out. After breakfast, the kitchen staff will get you set up to pack your lunch for the hike. (I highly recommend the granola bar, and the cookies, and ... well, everything.) The hikes are well led. We had one with Alex, and one with Claude. They'll show you some special things along the way, and also tell you some of the history of the area. So, the hikes are beautiful, educational, and entertaining. My only regrets about our short vacation was that I didn't have a better camera, and that we didn't stay longer. Next time... Next time. Also - you should buy the book. :^)
The experience was beyond what we had ever imagined or expected! You will be treated to unlimited unreal views, a comfortable bed (with duvet, extra blanket and pillow), hot water for showers, cold drinks and delicious hot food waiting for you after a long day’s hike. Claude and Annick seem to pour their heart and soul into this place and that reflects in the way they treat their staff and guests. There is a two course breakfast, packed lunch for your hikes, tea time snacks and a three course dinner, all complete with a great wine/beer list. (They were also able to accommodate my dietary requirements). If you are extra lucky, you will get to meet Claude and share in his passion for this place. He took us on a couple of UNREAL hikes off the beaten path and had many stories to share and knew so much about the animals, flowers, mountain peaks.. you name it! I am a novice hiker, and he made me feel safe and comfortable on a hike that I would have never imagined being able to summit. The staff (they all really do seem like family) love their job and want to share their love for this place with you. My husband and I will remember this for a long long time. We already can’t wait to come back.
We love this place. And we love Claude and his family so much!!! The food is amazing and there are guided hikes for all skill levels.
Incredible place. Was there in the winter. Fluffy deep snow, amazing snowshoeing and trails. Food and wine is really really good and when you consider it is a very remote lodge at 2100 meters then the food and wine is out of this world. Claude and Annick the hosts are extremely sincere and excellent hosts as was all of the team. A simply must do to see Mt Assiniboine up front and personal.
Spent an amazing week here in the winter, doing day trips on both backcountry and Nordic skis. With at least three guides at their disposal, the lodge can accommodate both, and also people wanting to do less and more of their day. The Assiniboine Park offers both gentle and steep slopes, and fantastic scenery. Food is varied and very good, with full breakfast and three course dinner - you make your own sandwiches to bring out for lunch. Rooms in the main lodge can get a bit cold in the night, but that's no problem as long as one stays beneath the soft and warm duvets. Overall excellent quality without being at all posh.
