Very nice camping spot with bath house. Tom, the owner,, was awesome & very accommodating! Great location to visit the Nantahala National Forest, Pisgah National Forest, Gorges State Park & Duke Energy's Bear Creek Station. Lots of wonderful waterfalls to see in the area.
There is no real bath house here. It is a very very rundown wooden building with no hot water except in the shower stall. Water backs up when showering. There is no trash pickup. We were told to take the trash to a dumpster but it was an old trailer requiring a ladder to be able to put the trash in it. The owner is very nice and attentive, and the land is lovely, but I would not return unless there are upgrades.
We stayed in cabin 6 which was a quaint rustic cabin on the water with a serene and picturesque setting. At The Ridge offered a unique opportunity to enjoy nature while still having basic amenities. The cabin was clean and had essential appliances like an in wall heating/air conditioning unit, refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot. There was also a nearby shower, bath house, and water spigot. We did bring our own sheets, blankets and pillows. The owner Tom was a generous host who maintains the grounds and ensured we had everything we needed.
Great location but unfortunately, we left shortly after arriving. There were broken grills, tables and other various things littered all over the grounds. The grass hadn’t been maintained so the fire pits were overgrown which resulted in a massive amount of bugs. The bridge at the entrance looked old and we were hesitant to drive over it ( but I’m no engineer). We had heard great things about this campground, but it honestly needs a lot of work. It has a lot of potential, but I wouldn’t recommend it at this time. Definitely did not feel like this was a safe spot for my wife and me to enjoy the weekend.
Great owners snd Staff! A hidden GEM! Clean, simple and very affordable. Thank you so much Tom, Sarah and Nate! Will definitely come back again and recommend to my students and congregants. Shalom :)
