Atáxam Mámta’ash Campground (formerly Indian Flats) Introduce

Atáxam Mámta’ash Campground, formerly known as Indian Flats, located on Puerta La Cruz Rd in Warner Springs, California, USA, offers a remote camping experience. As part of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, this campground provides a secluded setting for outdoor recreation.

Atáxam Mámta’ash Campground offers the following features and services:

  • Remote Location: The campground is located way off the beaten path, providing a secluded environment.
  • Name Change: The campground's name was changed to Atáxam Mámta'ash to honor the descendants of the land, translating to "People's Flat."

However, it is important to be aware of the following potential challenges:

  • Lack of Shade: All the biggest shade oak trees in the campsites have been cut down.
  • Unmaintained Road: The access road is reportedly unmaintained.
  • Empty Campground: The campground is often empty.
  • Exposed Campsites: The campsites are now very exposed due to the removal of shade trees.

Guests have reported a significant change in the campground's landscape due to the removal of large shade oak trees. The campground, now named Atáxam Mámta’ash, offers a remote and secluded experience, but the lack of shade and the unmaintained road may be a deterrent for some visitors. The name change to honor the descendants of the land is a positive aspect, but the altered landscape has significantly impacted the camping experience. The campground is ideal for those seeking a secluded camping experience, but visitors should be prepared for the lack of shade and the unmaintained access road.

Atáxam Mámta’ash Campground is ideal for those seeking a remote camping experience near Warner Springs, CA. Visitors should be aware of the lack of shade and the unmaintained access road.

All the biggest shade oak trees in campsites have been cut down with no explanation. Road really unmaintained and campground empty, I suspect because the sites that were once shaded are now very exposed. Such a shame!

Cool camp ground way off the beaten path. Wow, yes, the name of Indian Flats Campground was changed to Atáxam Mámta'ash Campground to honor the descendants of the land. The name translates to "People's Flat".

Just spent one night there to test out. Only 3 sites being used including mine. Seemed fairly quiet except the one family (mom, dad, kid and dog) who seemed louder than the other site that had several people (about 7 or 8 people). Gave it a 4 star instead of 5 because I wish there was a ranger to keep the dog family in check since their dog wasn't on a leash. It didn't full blown attack, but as I walked by their site, I had my hand on my knife and had to stop for the owner to come and get it.

Nice little campground nestled far off the beaten path. No running water and pit toilets. Some of the sites are exposed and open. No campfire allowed due to the drought.

One of my favorite places to camp. Never crowded, cheap and has picnic tables, fire pits and nice pit toilets. I think it's 12 bucks a night.
