Atkinson Motorsports Park Introduce
Atkinson Motorsports Park, located at 23354 US-6, Atkinson, IL 61235, offers a unique combination of off-road motorsports activities and camping facilities. As a part of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, it caters to adventure enthusiasts and campers seeking a rustic experience.
According to customer reviews, Atkinson Motorsports Park is a "fun little park" primarily known for its off-road trails, particularly for side-by-side (SXS) vehicles. The park features articulating areas and scenic, tight wood trails, providing an enjoyable experience for off-road enthusiasts. Helmets are required for off-road activities. While the park is not heavily maintained, it offers a cool and accessible place for local riders. There is also an interest in the park allowing Jeeps in the future.
The park also includes a campground for overnight stays. Campers can expect full hookups with 30 amp service. Payment options include Venmo, check, or cash, with a nightly rate of $34. However, it's important to note that the water at the campground has a strong sulfuric (rotten egg) smell, which may be unpleasant for washing and showering. Additionally, a train track runs alongside the campground, which may cause noise disturbances during the night.
The campground generally has available space, and the price is considered reasonable. However, there is no on-site dumpster, requiring campers to dispose of trash across from the main building. The park provides bathroom facilities, though the water quality may be a concern.
In summary, Atkinson Motorsports Park offers a convenient location for off-road adventures and camping. While the off-road trails provide a fun experience, campers should be aware of the water's sulfuric smell and the nearby train tracks. Customer Reviews
We took our sxs on a Monday. No one was there. It's a fun little park close to home. The articulating was fun. The wood trails are nice and scenic and tight! Not super maintained. Overall cool little place. The office isn't opened but they have you sign a waiver and put your $20 each person in the slot. They require helmets. If you are a camper they have a little campground too. Bathrooms available but the water is rank. Easy and fun park for a sxs. It would be cool if they allowed jeeps!
This was a last minute overnight stay. We got there after closing hours. The campground was pretty empty. The form of payment is Venmo, check or cash. It's $34 per night. We were told ahead of time the water has a very sulfuric smell (horrible rotten egg smell) but after a while it would disappear. We let the water run for quite a while but the smell didn't change, so it wasn't pleasant washing dishes. Needless to say, we didn't want to shower, brush teeth or wash our face with that smell. We had full hookup 30amp. Also to note, there is a train track that runs along the campground. We heard the train go by twice and when you're a weary traveler that's something you don't want to hear when you're trying to get some sleep. The was no dumpster on site but one across from the main building so we used that to dump our trash. The plus was it wasn't crowded and the price is nice.
Good park really. Some overgrown trails and dead ends, good bit of deep Gulleys, but really fun and easy to get in. $20 per person doesn't feel like a bad price at all. I would recommend it
Fun and spacious. Not always packed, but great place to ride. Bring your grill and the family and enjoy a day on nature rollin!!
Track was awesome. Kids small track needed groomed but still nice. Trails were fun, some needed trimmed up, some were rutted up pretty good, but still had a blast! Well worth the $20 admission. Open 7 days a week definitely a plus
Good park really. Some overgrown trails and dead ends, good bit of deep Gulleys, but really fun and easy to get in. Not very helpful on the phone, and often don't even answer.
Great wide open park for young kids to learn and enough challenges for adult trail riders. There is a track but it is not well kept and not the true purpose of this park. We stayed overnight at the campsite and they have over 20 sites mix of 50amp full hookups and 30 amp with water and electric. Showers were fine but the water needs to be shocked as it's smells of sulfur. Family had a great time...just bring your own water if camping
