We had an amazing 10 day visit. The campground is very well maintained. Shower house and bathroom were very nice. Watching the ships pass by was amazing. Would highly recommend taking the ferry to sugar Island for bike riding. If your lucky you will be at the ferry when a big ship is going by. They had a horn blowing completion which was really cool. Make sure to have a burger at Clyde's either before or after the ferry ride
Overall this place wasn’t bad. Grounds were well kept and cared for. Facilities were clean and tidy. We only stayed for a night and got in late. The biggest negative, which for me and my family was pretty big, was the main road. From 11pm to about 3am it turned in to a drag strip. Multiple cars with extremely loud exhaust were racing up and down the road. Kept waking my kids, my wife, and myself. It sounded like they were about to crash through our campground. Even the ships going through the locks using their horn weren’t bad at all compared to the cars and trucks racing on the road. There is a camp host that is available after hours. Even though we arrived after hours we didn’t need them but it was nice to know they were there. We didn’t use the showers but they were always busy and all had steam coming out so I would guess they were nice. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained.
Was not impressed with campground. It's a grassy parking lot with firepits. No shade and no trees. Right on top of each other. There was one plus. It had a nice laundry area with 3 washers and dryers. Not too expensive. Location was okay.
Proximity to local attractions, views of the waterway, and neighborly campers—these are what initially attracted us to reserve a campsite. Once we arrived, the host was gracious and very friendly. We found other campers were mostly retired but always willing to share their hints and stories about the surrounding area. You'll find local and regional chain restaurants close enough to walk to for lcoal and family friendly fare. Not but a two mile bike ride away from the Soo Locks, State Park, and other shopping attractions made the visit, at least for my wife and me, more pleasurable since we were able to enjoy the fresh air. Benches by the water edge allowed us to enjoy a slowed pace of watching the large "footers" go by, which they did often while we were there. I'd recommend this as a repeatable stop for a convenient, laid-back, family-friendly campground. Bring your boat or bikes and take advantage of the proximity to the Saint Marie River, Lake Superior, the history of the Soo Locks, and the local shops!
Very nice campground restrooms and showers very clean. Amenities included firewood and laundry on site. Water a d electric included. Grounds well kept
