Beautiful Backcountry site, tent pads are made out of wood chips makes for a nice soft spot. Beautiful view of the water from most of the sites. 3 outhouses available 1 of the three was still in really good condition. There is a separate food area with 2 picnic tables and two different firepits. There are logs available for burning but you would need to bring an axe. Bear lockers are also near the food area for safe food storage. Overall this was a beautiful spot to spend the night!
Overall it was a great experience! Nice campground with scenic views. Quite peaceful in the morning. It's got two communal fire pits, three outhouses, a few tables and benches, and 20 or so bear lockers. Note #1: I'd recommend the spring nearby as a drinking water source (Lake Minnewanka is being overused by both leisure and personal use boats, which makes its water a little bit murky sometimes). Note #2: Lots of mosquitos on the Lake Minnewanka Trail, make sure to bring a repellent. Note #3: There's cell phone reception at this campground.
Campground is a bit messy, might have been a storm or just old trees that needed to be cut down. There's 10 tent spots and three fire pits. And lockers for food in case of bears.
Backcountry campground at the shore of the lake. It has 8 campsites which are about 5-15 m into the woods. Some firepits in a little distance to the campsites and hanging ropes for bear safety. Had deer and goats walking around the campsite. Toilets were in acceptable conditions, but no paper. Campsites are well protected against wind from southwest. Wind from east might be harsh. Stony shore and cold water of course.
The google maps location is off. The camping site is about 500 meters further down the trail. Not cool if you are hiking in close to dark and are using Google Maps to locate where you'll be spending the night in an area known for grizzly bears. Wandered for almost an hour trying to locate the site. Very rocky. Lots of drift wood.
