Excellent campground with beautiful sites. We are tent campers and stayed in the Bayside Campground, which was awesome! The park itself can be crowded during the day but by 4 o'clock the beach-goers seem to clear out and things quiet down just in time for the sunset. Wonderful snorkeling right off the beach with plenty of small creatures in shallow & clear water. The Bayside campground is tents only because of the clearance at the entrance and the sites are the perfect size for a tent and vehicle. Very strict 6'8" going under the bridge to enter which we barely cleared in our stock 2500. Be careful! Staff are lovely and keep the place ship shape. US 1 is very close by for easy access, but can also be noisy depending on traffic levels. We will be back at every opportunity!
Stayed a few days here and wished I could stay forever. Park Ranger Matthew was so pleasant and informative. The park is peaceful and beautiful. It's a wonderful place to just walk around and take in nature.
Bahia Honda State Park RV Campground is a fantastic spot for nature lovers, especially those who enjoy stargazing! The park practices some light pollution control, making it an ideal place to experience the night sky in all its glory. During September, the Milky Way is visible, and it's truly a breathtaking sight. The peaceful atmosphere, paired with stunning views of both the ocean and the stars, creates an unforgettable experience. The RV sites are well-maintained, and the park's natural beauty makes it a must-visit destination for campers looking for a serene getaway. Highly recommended!
RATS! RATS! RATS! All over the Sandspur campground. While we enjoyed our stay last year, this year was shocking to see rats all over the place. We had rats coming while seating at the table eating during the daylight. One rat was trying to climb my neck while seating on a chair in the evening. At night we decided to capture the activity on site.
I have been coming here since 2014. This summer I found park conditions, mainly bathrooms, very deplorable. There was no running water to wash my hands, the water was running through the wall when the toilet was flushed, dirt everywhere. I felt so sad, because this is the only state park my kids want to go to. It was disappointing. There's a fee to use the park... what about using some funds to improve the facility?
