Great place to camp with family in the summer! Fishing, hiking, horseback riding, and beautiful views.
Absolutely excellent campground right on river with super nice campground host couple. Kennedy Meadows Genetal Store is just an easy mile up the road. Middle fork 8f the Stanislaus River is beautiful here, and I bathed in it every day. Fills up on weekends. Dead Man's campground just up the road maybe slightly nicer, but more competition there.
The scenery is beautiful, but the host was awful, very rude, yelling at the children because they were playing soccer in an empty camp site, complaining that they would mess it up and nobody would want to use it. Yelled a friends, talking down to them, very unpleasant experience with this gentleman. Other than this man driving by to check on us if we were behaving, everything breathtaking!😊
Nice F. S. Campground. I love the sound of the roaring Stanislaus River. Good fishing real close. Kennedy Meadows is about a mile up the road. Store, saloon, restaurant, clam chowder on fridays is so good. Horse trail rides available, $25 for 1.5 hours. Close to Pacific Crest Trail, jnteresting to talk with the hikers making their way from Mexico to Canada. You will see them occasionally hitch hiking to get back up the the top. After their break. Or coming down from the pass.
The campground is a bit tight for bigger rigs, we struggled a little with our 25ft fifth wheel. And the loop furthest south is not good for rigs at all. Deadman looks like it can accommodate rigs better, but it was packed, even during the week! The river was beautiful. The views are stunning! It's right along the highway so there's a lot of road noise during the weekend, not as much during the week. It's a short drive or bike to Kennedy Meadows which has a restaurant, bar, general store, and pack station. I am definitely coming back!
