Worst camp experience to date, while leash walking, poop scooping and following the rules, I was set upon by two different dogs in the road belonging to campers with loose pets. The campsite makes a big deal about how it’s a family place where they follow the rules. I had to alert the manager to enforce the leash policy on the other Campers and then later he came to threaten to evict me, I suppose to discourage me from complaining further. Drinking and swearing went on well into the night at nearby campsites, well, I stayed confined to my RV for my own safety. This is a seasonal regular place, packed in like sardines with a junky look. The only good thing I can say about it is that I checked out early three days out of nine and got half my money back.
Absolutely, jaw droppingly, horrible experience. Before I say anything else, the owner was a very nice women and I would've never guessed what was beyond the gate. Within 60 seconds of entering, I was rudely yelled at for going (6) miles an hour in a 5 mph zone. This happened again shortly after. Trump flags everywhere, what sort of campground would allow its guests to fly horrible political banners. Cigarette butts and bugs in the showers, rotted wood to step out onto. Overflowing trash bins, waking up to campers vomiting, sharp gravel tent sites on a slope. 0/5 a horrible mistake but an amusing story nonetheless.
We stayed at Balsam Cove for 3 months this Summer. We thoroughly enjoyed the campground while we were there. We had site 90, and I personally believe it's the best site there. Thanks to the trees there's plenty of privacy, and the park was quiet during the week. The events they had were a lot of fun, and the kids that were there truly enjoy the campground as well.
We camped in a tent at one of the sites! They keep the bath house and bathroom unit very clean, it’s an awesome space to use. It’s quiet and full of families and kids! We stayed there to go to Acadia, but it was a good central location, close to a grocery store and other food places. The staff was super friendly and treated us with respect!
No sand anywhere, just crushed sharp granite. I bet the rock was prettier before it was crushed and dumped there. Hurt my feet and knees in my tent. Ground is not suitable for a tent. Fire ring really cheesy too. Tent sites pathetically small and crammed together. No privacy at all. Seemed more like a retirement home than a place for family and friends to enjoy the great outdoors of Maine. I grew up here and can guide you to beautiful places. Enjoy this states natural wonders and be one with all creatures. Be fun and happy all. Love you all.
