It's a little run-down. The sites are quite tight and narrow, and there are a lot of long-term rigs parked at the campground. The pool is chilly, but you'll get used to it. Unfortunately, it closes at 5 pm, which is a bit of a bummer for the kids. Services were all adequate. The laundry room had three machines out of service, but we made due. The location is convenient to make a day trip to Idyllwild. We recommend making that trip. Don't tow your trailer up the road, especially if it's a big rig. The road is quite narrow, with lots of bends and twists.
The lady working there that I dealt with was very pleasant. She was super accommodating and went above and beyond for me. 2 aggressive German shepherds were allowed to run free during my visit. They both began attacking my beagle in my campsite. I had to throw blocks at them to get away, and they just stood 10 feet away barking until I got us inside. I waited 5 minutes and tried to go back out again but was armed this time with a hammer, and they came back around. I grabbed my dog and went back in. I called all the koa numbers I could find for assistance and never received any before i left. I called animal control, but they weren't open. The dump station is locked, so if your hose doesn't reach the odd location of the ones on site, you're out of luck. I asked to use the dump station, and they were sending someone who never showed. Some of the families that live there aren't respectful of other's spaces. Kids were playing in the middle of MY campsite, looking inside of my RV. Very uncomfortable. Nothing is nearby, place rundown, aggressive unleashed animals, no dump facilities, inconsiderate families, nice staff.
Staff was pleasant when getting quotes and things like that but once you start staying there, it all changed. Very rude. We set up the RV on 11/17 but did not stay on the grounds until 11/22. When we received the bill for December, they charged a $30 fee for electric from 10/18 thru 11/18 plus a $40 fee for water from 10/18 thru 11/18, on top of the 7 kw we actually used hooking it up. I was planning on staying here month to month until I could get an apt as I just moved here from MN but after this experience, I’m going back to MN on Dec 31st. I’ve been here not quite 2 weeks and have invested $1600 on this campground. This is from the deposit and all the additional fees that they don’t tell you about. The area surrounding the RV is nothing but stickers and rocks. Can’t go barefooted inside or out. The dogs are treated better with at least green grass to do their business in. I agree with others on the trees. They don’t keep up on them. My first night here, I had police action just outside the park about 1230am. Don’t leave nothing out that you don’t want taken as the high school is next door and the kids come thru the park from time to time. I was woke up at 4 am this morning with someone next to me pounding on something for over an hr (probably some tweaker). Very sketchy people around here. The management was very rude. Don’t recommend staying here at all not even for just one night as you may not get any sleep. Good luck to you all if you decide to stay here.
We have stayed at several KOA’s over the last few years. This occasion, we just needed a quick overnight stop, which worked well. Service for Afterhours check in was good. If you’re looking for the “typical KOA” experience however, this is not it. Very basic with alot of full time residents.
Called about 4 hours ahead of our arrival time to see if they had an overnight available. They did. We travel in a 2021 Skoolie and they did not have any issues with that. Cheap and convenient. 9/10
