Customer Reviews
I was freezing while hiking and this camp saved me. It provided a nice break to warm me up before I could continue my hike. The people I met at the camp were very warm too.
Friendly camp staff. Enjoyed the lean-to for camping, and bugs weren't as much of an issue as I thought they might be though there were some mosquitoes around sunset. Loved seeing sunrise through the trees in the morning. And, we loved the all-you-can-eat pancakes breakfast in the morning! Great water source available for filters. And, the bathrooms were well-maintained!
I spent the night here before summitting Pike’s Peak the next day. What a lifesaver! It would have been something else to climb from base all the way to the peak, although I know lots of people do that! Anyways, they cook you meals at camp, there is a lot of history to appreciate, and the atmosphere is incredible! People passionate about having fun and enjoying nature all in one place! I came alone, but met lots of friendly people! Rachel and Jared are amazing, I had the pleasure of talking with them and learning a little bit about what the camp entails. What a commitment they have made- you can tell they are dedicated, and work hard to create the atmosphere I was talking about!! So- check this place out! Even if you’re not staying over, you’re sure to have a great experience!
The new caretakers Rachel & Jared are doing an amazing job. We stayed in the upper cabin - it is a bare bones place to sleep and the wood stove is not usable. The toilet house is nice. The food super good - way better than I expected. The spaghetti sauce is a well seasoned vegetarian "meat" sauce with a bit of a kick, and they have shaker parm and garlic bread to go with. All you can eat. The pancakes are whole wheat with apple and walnut mixed in, choice of real maple syrup or fake. Good quality hot drinks too. Very glampy. Will do it all again. A+++
An absolute must-do experience! We reserved the main cabin so we needn't have carried our sleeping bags (would've saved us some weight). Lots of people that you meet and hang out with...the cabin has a little seating area with books, board games, a guitar, hot chocolate/coffee/tea and they serve the most delicious spaghetti ever! Sleep was pretty comfortable on the mattresses. It is hostel style so there will be other parties sleeping with you. We only had 9 people and the cabin can host up to 17 I think. So we had lots of room. The "necessary rooms" are very clean and stocked with toilet paper. Get torches or headlights for the night. Water source needs a filtration system. 100% recommend this!!
