Try approaching from the west and you won’t make it on the forest service roads Google tells you to follow. Apparently some ranch commandeered the roads and declared them private. All gated off now. I guess that explains the lack of reviews after Dan W.

Great remote campground tucked down into scenic Bear Canyon. For campers: there are plenty of choice spots both in both shady and open areas from which to choose. All spots have fire pits and the whole campground is several feet about the (dry) riverbed in case of potential flash flood during rainy season. For day hikers: this a great stopover spot being near the intersection of a few paths and less than a 2-hour hike from the 11N04 'trailhead'/Top of Rattlesnake Canyon (SE of Colson Canyon Campground).
