Barren River Lake State Resort Park

Rooms are maybe a little dated but clean and comfortable. I think all of them are either lakefront or lake view. We had a lower level room, but it had a screen door on the lake side, nice for when the weather is good. The lodge restaurant is good and there is a bar, but its hours are a mystery to me. The lake, er, reservoir is very pretty. We'll definitely be back.

We were there off-season for a group meeting. Room was comfortable enough and all the staff were very nice. However, the breakfast was not good at all - but cost us $15/person. My wife wanted green tea, they didn't have it but she had brought her own. So that was $2.50 for a kettle of not-hot-enough water to steep her tea in. Decaf was barely drinkable - I don't usually add sweetner but this called for it. Eggs, bacon, biscuit and potatoes were edible but nothing at all had a personal touch. Basically the quality of a free breakfast at a $65/night hotel but you pay for it. The second day we drove up to Paradise Point and had a really delicious breakfast and decaf for half the price. It's only 5 minutes away. Left me wondering if the lunch and dinner are better - maybe they just do the bare minimum for breakfast? But I didn't eat in the restaurant again during our stay. We did have a special dinner for our meeting and it was very very good. Shame some of that skill can't be applied to the restaurant food.

Our recent weekend stay in one of the cabins was absolutely fantastic! The recently renovated "standard" cabin was impeccably clean, and although we encountered twice an issue with the electrical service to the cabin, the staff were incredibly efficient in their response to our concerns. For my husband and I, the location and access to multiple recreational and educational activities and programs makes Barren River Lake SRP a wonderful weekend escape from the hustle and bustle of our day-to-day lives. We especially loved the Nature Watch Weekend. We will definitely recommend Barren River Lake SRP to our family and friends!

Didn't stay in room at park we got a air BNB but was there all weekend for a function and everything was great! Service,food,was clean and was enough staff around to answer any questions we had about what time lunch and dinner was,where this or that was. Was a great experience and definitely will be back next year!!

Nice little campground. Some of the spots have a huge drop-off so be advised. We stayed at site 44, and it was very nice.
