Nice enough KOA. Right off the freeway, but not too noisy. Dog friendly park, and nice clean bathrooms and showers. Plenty of playground stuff for the kids. Lots of nice tent sites. Fully stocked store with all the ggods. Clean joint. Definitely would stay here again.
Ok let's be clear it's a stopover site... Service was abrupt and the baths were acceptable but not very clean, the little quarter powered buzzer was unacceptable... Laundry... Door was blowing in the wind and the windows were blown out as a result with 6 of nine washers out of order. Passing through fine... If expensive otherwise we will pass in the future. Site was level and power was good... Did not bother with water ... It rained hard and there were a lot of puddles but no issues getting in and out
Easy Access from the highway. Nice RV park near the freeway that makes for a good overnight stop. We didn't notice any significant noise from the highway at night, maybe because we were closer to the far end of the park. The park is clean with lots of wide pull-thru sites. It was quite hot when we were there so we didn't get out much; we did notice many people seemed to be enjoying the pool.
We stopped here to break one leg of our trip into two legs. We normally don't stop at the Barstow KOA but I had enough points for $50 off so I thought we might as well. I checked online for a site and there was one but I called the day of our arrival, since plans might have changed, and reserved a spot. She took my credit card info over the phone and I stated that I had enough points for $50 off. She said we could take care of that when we arrived. When we arrived I asked her about using my points. She stated that the owners don't allow $50 to be used. The max I could use is $25. If you want to use a lot of points here, don't try it! Another negative with this KOA is that the showers take quarters and are not free! Paying this amount per night should entitle one to free showers. We won't stay here again. Update #1: I contacted KOA corporate about this issue with the reward points. KOA Inc stated that KOA's should take up to $50 in rewards per visit. They contacted KOA Barstow and I was refunded $25 to make a complete $50 rewards points redemption. Update #2: I forgot to mention an anomaly on the 50amp breakers. There were two breakers for the 50amp, naturally, but they were not tied together with a bar so you have make sure you turned both of them on (and both of them off). I am not sure if this is up to local electrical code, or not. We camped at Barstow / Calico KOA Holiday in a Travel Trailer.
Stood at a pull thru site with paw pen and it was great. Lots of room for dogs and kids ro run in the fenced area. Clean bathrooms and showers, general store had the items I forgot at home. Staff was nice. Easy to check in and chevk out. Didn't get to use the pool because of the season and no jumping pillow but the kids liked the playground ect.
