On-site parking
Someone thought it would be a good idea to have an entire mile of trail through a muddy swamp instead of rerouting through the forest. Ruined shoes aside, the view is fine but nothing spectacular. The best thing about this spot is passing the spectacular thermal features with cool geysers and impressive pools. Look closely for the bacteria mat covered dragonfly!
Great campground. We set up our tents on the beach with our doors looking out to the beach. Got to see the moon rise over the lake and the sunrise in the morning. The campsite has all the things a Yellowstone backcountry campground would have - a pole for hanging the bear bag and a place to use the bathroom. Quite nice compared to other places I have been backpacking! Other than a lot of mosquitoes this was a great place to camp.
