Bass Lake State Forest Campground Introduce

Welcome to Bass Lake State Forest Campground, located in Gwinn, MI 49841. As a part of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, this campground offers a natural camping environment within the state forest.

Based on customer reviews, Bass Lake State Forest Campground offers a scenic location suitable for those seeking a nature getaway. The campground and roads are reported to be well-maintained, and the sites can accommodate large RVs, including 42' fifth wheels.

However, there are mixed reviews regarding the cost. Some visitors reported that the campground was advertised as free, but they encountered fees for primitive camping and registration. This discrepancy in information could lead to confusion. It's recommended to confirm the current fee structure before arrival.

Another point of contention is the design of the fire rings, which some campers found to be inefficient. The concrete and tall design reportedly limits the heat output, which could impact the camping experience during colder nights.

A notable drawback is the sketchy Verizon cell phone signal, which might be a concern for those who rely on connectivity. However, this lack of signal could also be seen as an advantage for campers looking to disconnect and immerse themselves in nature.

Despite the issues with fees and fire rings, the campground is generally considered a nice place to enjoy the natural surroundings. It is a good choice for people who are looking for a state forest campground, and are looking to get away from the city.

Potential visitors should verify the current fees and be aware of the limited cell phone service. The fire rings may also be a consideration for those who plan to have campfires.

This is a wonderful free state camping location. The roads and campground are well maintained. We have a 42' fifthwheel and there's plenty of sites the we fit in. The only downside for us was Verizon signal was very sketchy. On the other hand is you're looking to get away to nature in a scenic location this would be a good choice.

This was advertised as a free campground. It isn't. $20 for primitive camping plus $11-19 "registration fee"? Didn't pay that. Nobody checked for it. Kinda confusing. Nice place though. Except for the sucky fire rings. 2 ft tall and concrete insulated. You can't even feel the heat!

I stayed here for a week and it was absolutely awful. The campground itself is relatively nice, apart from the broken glass and cigarette butts all over my site, but it was occupied by some of the loudest, most obnoxious campers I've ever encountered. Complete disregard for quiet hours, multiple generators running all day/night. Screaming, blasting music, massive fireworks into the early hours of morning, people racing around the campground drunk in their vehicles, speeding, going the wrong direction, revving engines in their campsites. I'm appalled by the behavior I witnessed in what should have been a wonderful, quiet campground.

This old shabby no frills spot Problems with lots of noisy aggressive large dogs some not leashed or barking all nite. And if your neibor has a generator Forget about sleeping ..... So pick your spot very carefully.

Beautiful large rustic sites on a secluded lake. Vault toilets, boat ramp and swimming from your site.
