Nice place to unwind and spend some quality time amid nature. 76 camping sites and 6 log cabins are available for booking. Beautiful views of the Bay from a few sites but a nice beach is across from the street, along with covered and uncovered picnic and day use areas and parking! Flush toilets and showers are available within the campground. Partial service sites and a dump station, charging a nominal fee.
This is our first visit to this park and we already made our reservation for December. The camp hosts and rangers were outstanding, they even visited to make sure we have ice and firewood for the night. We found the facilities and our cabin to be very clean. The grounds were well maintained. We're really looking forward to sharing our happiness with our mom in December.
The park is a great option if you know where you are and what you want to do. The Skagit Valley is beautiful, but the the park itself doesn't offer a lot of hiking or adventure other than a really nice pebble covered beach with access to the bay. It would be a great place to kayak. The park is close to some very unique and wonderful food and art options. I would check out the communities of LaConner and Edison. The bathroom facilities were clean and accessible. The park is near Bellingham and only a quick hop to Interstate 5. Our campsite was very private and was nice and flat.
Wonderful rocky PNW beach! The whole bay is only 8ft deep so the tide goes WAY out and exposes a ton of mucky sand which is great for searching for crabs and barnacles and all sorts of estuary life! It was neat to see all the little trails in the sand from the hermit crabs! Remember to pack out what you pack in and put the rocks back where you find them to protect the natural habitats.
Great campground. We stayed here for three nights. The sites were big and had really nice new picnic tables. The washrooms were clean and they had hot water for showers at no extra cost. There is a little store attached to the check-in where you can get ice and firewood. I would say I was a little surprised that they were allowing fires given the state we are in and we didn't have one. The campground was very busy so there were a couple of nights where people were a little louder than we would have liked but overall everyone seemed friendly and having fun. There are a ton of plug-in sites though we weren't able to get one for our stay. The beach is really amazing though and the water is definitely warm enough for swimming. I would have hoped that it was a little bit of a shorter walk but overall not too bad. You do have to be conscious of your timing for going down of the tides, especially if you want to swim as the tide goes out really far and it is a mud flat so you can't walk out on it. Catch it when the tide is on the way in and you will definitely enjoy it. Great for flying kites too!
