The best experience of our trip. We didn't want to drive too far from little rock. This game right a little bit more than one hour drive. And that was perfect with toddlers. We had such a blast at the recreation area. Like mentioned in the other reviews, the turn to the recreation area is kind of hidden. But once we turn back and came to it. Is a large parking area. Bathrooms not so great. But the water flowing and the views and the trail around that area is brilliant. We didn't want to go for a huge trail with our kids. So we went about half a mile in each direction and had a blast. The kids enjoyed throwing some stones into the gushing water. Overall it was just so peaceful

This park is nice and in a great location against the Illinois Bayou. It’s rather small and only features 3 sites but they’re big sites where you can fit multiple tents. Each site has a stone shelter with a fire place which is really nice. There is some graffiti but ultimately in pretty good condition. There is also a bathroom located in the campgrounds as well as a large pavilion. There is a larger abandoned campground just a small hike away that used to be apart of this campground. There is also a good swimming area near the campground in the creek, but only when the water is lower. There is no fee to use any part of the campgrounds. All in all it’s a nice little campground but I can imagine during the busy season it would be hard to get into.

We were here early June and the weather is lovely. The water is low enough to get in and enjoy yourself! There’s a trail that goes along the bluff and if you follow it at the end up the turnaround, there’s a few more campsites. The trail keeps going and is well marked with yellow diamonds. It was upkept compared to the other trials we’ve been on so far this week. There are 3 stone shelters that are nice! There’s a little graffiti, but nothing terrible. The bathroom is an outhouse and wasn’t any worse than any others I’ve used. If you’re not trying to camp, there’s a nice pavilion with plenty of picnic tables for an event. There was no fee to camp which was nice. Overall we throughly enjoyed our stay!

We always stop by here to walk around and check out the water. It's really flowing right now due to the rain but it's a neat area. 🍃

Great swimming hole with historic CCC shelters for campsites on lower level. Crystal blue water! As of June 2021, upper level campsite gate and parking was closed, although sites are available through hike - in from lower level. Day use is free. Lower level sites with shelters - $15 Upper level sites - $10
