The campground was well maintained. However, there was a huge, loud, drunk, obnoxious party of 50++ people there all day on Saturday, Feb 22nd. They were screaming and acting completely insane for over 6 hours, which disrupted every camper’s peace. Furthermore, these people were not in the designated pavilion for events, they were taking up the entire lake area which is the actual campground. (each camping spot is tiny enough!!). When I called to explain situation, the front desk lady told me they were having a “celebration of life”. Okay great, can they not celebrate under the pavilion? Why make everyone suffer? People come out here to get away from all that, and enjoy the serene atmosphere. We tried to get away from the loud, shrill screaming by going on a peaceful hike. Little did we know, 4-6 different motorists would be ZOOMING PAST US on electric bikes and electric scooters and skateboards repeatedly, dangerously almost running over our senior dog. We called the front desk lady again, but continued to see them doing it the rest of the day. She told us the park rangers were busy with a brush fire. Anyways, it’s not the worse campground but clearly they have some management issues. We came out to hike and enjoy nature, and instead we got a party of 50-75 screaming drunks, and a gang of electric bikes almost running us over. DO BETTER, BEAR LAKE STATE FOREST.

Seemed really clean, and the trails were awesome! I will say, my friends and I found it super weird that they allow huge events (50-100 people) on the campground all day, (like 6 feet away from our tent) and not in the pavilion or event area. Our one day of fishing and peace was kinda shot, thanks to a party of seemingly belligerent drunks. Other than that, we had a great time. Maybe management could change the reservation to having the events be in the designated event area? idk. Just bad luck on our part, I guess!!

It's a campground, not a hotel, so I'm not sure why the review is asking about rooms and service. It's a nice campground with primitive campsites for tents and RV sites with power and water hookups, and private bathrooms with showers. The lake allows fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and motorboats. Nice hiking trails have benches along the way. There is also a day-use area. We will definitely stay again.

We found Bear Lake campground about two years ago while RV’g through the panhandle; well, we liked it so much we came back in 2025. I really can’t say enough good things about the campground. The rangers come through often, so you feel secure. It’s a single loop with 32, 50/30/20 W/E sites as well as a tent only loop. Some sites are pull-thru’s and some backin’s. The pedestal and water connect is properly placed; an easily accessible dump site is located by the bath and shower house as well as the dumpster. The campground is quiet and peaceful when school is in. When kids are out on vacation the campground has the welcome din of children at play in view all the way around the loop. We really bet the kiddies sleep good at night. My wife and I enjoyed watching enthusiasm and energy. We walked part of the lake trail loop. It’s nicely maintained and easy to follow. The lake is 107 acres on Bear Creek, the average depth is 8 ft with a maximum depth of 23’; It’s 1,200 ft wide and 800 ft N-to-S. It has fishing, a boat ramp, canoeing/kayaking (alligators are present), hiking, and picnicking. We'll definitely be back.

I’ve been walking the white blaze trail around Bear Lake this past year and it keeps getting better every time. Not only is the scenery amazing and the trail maintained but today I found tiny critters along the trail that inspired a scavenger hunt.

We camped in spot #37 with a tent. It was a beautiful spot with a picnic table and fire pit provided. It was also mostly shaded. Plenty of flat ground for comfortable sleeping. Plenty of room to camp and park. The amenities provided were extremely clean and all worked well. We rode the bike trail and it was clean of debris and easy to maneuver. We are excited to visit again!
