Our first time camping here for Blatz fest weekend with friends. Not a bad campground overall. Bathroom shower ate my $ and didn't give me water :( Office lady was very helpful getting us checked in. Very sad part is COMUNICATION was horrible both Friday night and Saturday. They were none of SMELT fish left and hours later was told and that if I ordered something else it'll be another 40 mins after 2 hours of waiting. After we placed our order, salads, cheese and 1 kind of soup was completely empty. Cucumber and tomatos had like 3 pieces left...Saturday no one knew where the sign up table was. No one running the table knew what time the sat event starts. I also found out that this placed has been running by new owners for 2 years now. I would think they got them issues resolved by now or let's hope that thise issues are fixed.
This place is beautiful and quiet during the week. We came here for a few days and decided to stay the whole week, then booked a week in Sept! The owners and staff do all that they can to make us feel welcome, and the bar/grill feels like old friends. The tiny towns nearby are also full of nice people and great to visit.
If you're coming to Bear Lake Campground expecting a quiet, relaxing weekend surrounded by nature... don't. I don't know who keeps claiming this place is peaceful, but either they're extremely lucky or just flat-out lying. Saturday nights here are a complete nightmare if you're looking for any semblance of tranquility. Apparently, Bear Lake thinks it's a good idea to blast loud music across the campground every weekend, and it's not the good kind. The live entertainment usually amounts to mediocre cover bands or what sounds like someone’s cousin doing off-key karaoke. There’s rarely a real crowd maintaining interest yet somehow they crank the volume up like it's a sold out stadium. You can hear the music from every corner of the campground, and there's no escaping it until it finally dies down late at night. If you're camping with kids, or just value your sleep, steer clear. There are plenty of other campgrounds that actually deliver the peaceful outdoor experience they advertise. Bear Lake isn't one of them.
Wisconsin's premier "up north" campground is full of fun and surprises! We love the lake and the friendly warm bar area where we enjoy a bluegrass Festival in October to raise funds for the Future Farmers of America😊
This place is a paradise for nature lovers, anglers, and wildlife enthusiasts!
