Welcome to Bear Lake Dispersed Campsite, a unique offering within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, providing a primitive and secluded camping experience near Manistique, Michigan. You can reach us at (906) 474-6442 or +1 906-474-6442. Our address is 2696 Rd, Manistique, MI 49854.
Bear Lake Dispersed Campsite offers a truly remote and quiet experience, being the only campsite located on Bear Lake. This makes it ideal for those seeking solitude and a peaceful retreat. The site is large enough to accommodate small groups and is easily reservable online.
The campsite includes a fire pit with a grill and a picnic table. It's a sunny spot, so bringing a canopy for shade is recommended. The site is also pet-friendly, allowing you to bring your furry companions. However, the turn into the site is tight, making it manageable for campers up to 24 feet, but not recommended for larger vehicles.
Keep in mind that this is a primitive campsite with limited amenities. There is no drinking water, garbage bins (pack out what you pack in), or toilets. Lake access can be challenging due to steep sides and heavy plant growth, although there is a spot to launch canoes or kayaks about a quarter mile down the two-track. The 2-mile trail from the main road to the site is rough and best suited for 4x4 vehicles, although some smaller cars can manage. Additionally, there is zero cell service, which can be a pro for those wanting to disconnect.
The scenery is beautiful and the atmosphere is very relaxing. However, it's crucial to have a vehicle designed for off-road conditions, as the terrain can be challenging.

PROS * Primitive site, the only one on the lake. Quiet and remote! * Large enough to accommodate a small group * Easy reservations on line * Fire pit with grill and picnic table * Sunny spot, so bring a canopy for shade. * Pet friendly * Turn to get into the site was tight, but manageable for our 24-foot camper. I would not recommend anything larger. CONS * Lake access is difficult, steep sides, heavy plant growth. There is a spot to launch canoes or kayaks about a quarter mile further down the two-track * No drinking water * No garbage bins (carry out what you bring in) * No toilets. Plan accordingly. * Rough 2-mile trail from the main road to the site best suited for 4x4 vehicles, although my daughter did make it back in her Camry * Zero cell service, for those who need to stay connected. (I would put this in the pros column, myself)
Beautiful scenery and very relaxing. Will advise that it's best if you have a vehicle designed for off road . Had a rock puncture a tire on my SUV coming out for supplies.
My favorite campsite by far that is located in the Hiawatha State Park. Rustic camping for sure with absolutely no amenities. Once stayed for 9 days and never saw a person. Heads up - most cellphones I've found don't work out there either so you are totally isolated. But that's why we go right? To go to a place where you dig your own bathroom and clean yourself in the lake.
Word of warning! The road going in and out is not meant for cars without 4x4's. The road is meant for trucks and atv's. Other than that, we loved it. The site was clean, spacious and quiet.
Did not camp here but did do some fishing!!! Nice little place!!
