Bear River Lake Resort Introduce
Bear River Lake Resort, located at 40800 CA-88, Pioneer, CA 95666, and reachable at (209) 295-4868 or +1 209-295-4868, is a campground and resort within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category that has recently undergone changes. Following a fire, the resort was sold, leading to new management and operational adjustments.
Historically, the resort has been a popular destination for many visitors. However, recent reviews indicate significant concerns regarding the current state of the facilities. Customers have reported price increases and the introduction of a resort fee. While acknowledging the potential need for such changes, they express disappointment with the cleanliness of the restrooms and showers. Specifically, reviews mention unclean showers with clothing, soap, and paper towels scattered throughout, as well as toilets that were backed up and plugged.
These issues have led to strong dissatisfaction among some long time visitors. One reviewer shared that they will now need to relocate their annual camping trip due to the perceived mismanagement and unclean conditions. Other feedback does acknowledge that the location itself has been historically known as a great location, and that the previous management allowed the facilities to become run down. It is also noted that the fire may be a "blessing in disguise".
Potential visitors should be aware of these recent changes and consider the reported cleanliness issues before making reservations. It is recommended to contact the resort directly for the most up-to-date information on pricing, fees, and facility conditions.

We have been going to Bear River Resort for many years. Was extremely shocked at how the place in now being ran. Apparently, after the fire, the resort was sold. Now, there is a price increase as well as a resort fee! I wouldn't mind the price increase & resort fee if they updated and had clean restrooms & showers. We never take showers, and now we get charged for gross dirty showers. They looked like they hadn't been cleaned all summer. (Clothing hanging, several gross soap bars on floor & window, paper towels everywhere) The toliets were all backed up and plugged with feces. Extremely disappointed, and paid more for the grossness of the entire thing. Sadly, our annual Bear River Resort camping trip will now have to be relocated due to the new mismanagement of the facilities
Been going here in and off for many years. Great location and was sorry to hear about the fire but it may be a blessing in disguise. Place was a bit run down and dysfunctional.
Back in the day, at this resort Bear River Resort, I had the most romantic experience in the world. He was on time, all the time. I know I will never forget that weekend, and can you believe I didn't even want to go because I barley knew Mr. Wonderful, bit soooo glad I did. So sorry to hear about the resort and the fire that took place.
Business Issue: Had to Cancel (with plenty of advanced notice) and they never issued a refund or even reached out. Understand that it's not much money, but still - that's not acceptable.
Went camping bathrooms were near hot showers available. Only seeing was the ground was so unlevel. We were on a slant which I observed many campsites on slants which makes it difficult to get in and out.
Camping resort burnt down 2 years ago but Rollingsmoke bbq was there with amazing food 12-7 and a band came from 5-8 had a amazing time
Love this campground can get packed though in the summer. It had a beautiful lodge but burned down. Not sure if they rebuilt yet.
I'll start this review by saying the campground and surrounding area is beautiful and we will be coming back as it's a close and affordable getaway from Sacramento, but I was very disappointed with our site upon arrival. There was trash scattered about and even a dried up pile of human poo with toilet paper everywhere. There was a beautiful boulder at our site but it smelled like urine all around. We arrived after the office was closed so we had to do some major cleanup before even being able to set up our site. We did enjoy our time there after the initial gross-fest though. Having access to the water so close to our campsite was a treat and the mountain air was absolutely refreshing. We got some rain our first night there too and were blessed with a beautiful double rainbow. The only other issue I had was with the receptionist who seemed very impatient and unhappy to answer my questions on the phone.
