Bells Island Campground Introduce

Welcome to Bells Island Campground, located at 769 Bells Island Rd, Currituck, NC 27929. This campground offers a secluded camping experience in a beautiful natural setting. You can reach them at (252) 232-2590 or +1 252-232-2590.

Bells Island Campground provides a rustic camping experience with a focus on its natural surroundings. While some visitors praise the kindness of the staff and the scenic views, others have noted areas where the campground could improve.

Here's a summary of the campground's features and customer feedback:

  • Location: Beautiful, secluded area, but can be difficult to find as it's hidden from the main road.
  • Accessibility: Access via an ill-maintained gravel road with potholes.
  • Sites: Small lots with camper hookups.
  • Amenities:
    • Basic, clean, and warm showers and bathrooms (though some reviews indicate closures).
    • Small pier for fishing.
  • Staff: Praised for their kindness and helpfulness, especially upon late arrivals.
  • Views: Scenic views, though potentially obstructed by nearby tiny homes.
  • Upkeep: Some reviews note subpar property maintenance, including disheveled structures.
  • Pricing: Considered by some to be high for the available amenities.
  • Guest Policy: Charges $2 per guest for visitors.

Customer reviews highlight the staff's exceptional kindness and the beautiful location. However, potential visitors should be aware of the campground's rustic nature, including the gravel roads and the condition of some facilities. The small pier and the views are positive aspects, but the extra charge for guests and the upkeep have been noted as drawbacks.

If you're seeking a quiet, secluded camping experience and value friendly service, Bells Island Campground might be a good fit. However, be prepared for basic amenities and potential challenges with the access road and overall maintenance. Consider these factors when planning your trip.

Beautiful area and the kindest people. I arrived later than I hoped and in the dark and had never been there. I called once I turned onto the road and he had the tenant meet me, she was so incredibly kind and made sure I was parked, set up, and even walked me to the bathrooms and showers to make sure I felt safe arriving in a strange place in the dark. Truly the kindest gesture, also just so beautiful there, showers and bathroom basic but clean and warm :)

A campground hidden, way back, from the main road. If you blink you can easily miss the road to turn on to. The park does not have paved or asphalt roads but ill maintained gravel. And both bathroom houses were closed for use. The lots are small but have the necessary camper hook up and the view is beautiful however the price is too high, in my opinion, for the few amenities that this place boasts. It's more of an overpriced tiny cottage house campground. The upkeep for the property is subpar in my opinion. A one way in and out gravel road with holes to avoid. Disheveled/ dilapidated wooden structure on the property makes it look cheap. A small pier to fish off of was the only positive about this camping ground aside from the view. Even the view was blocked by some tiny homes that lacked up keep. They also charge you for having guests that may visit you while you're here; at $2 a head, how ridiculous.

This place is such a gem!!! Clean bathrooms, excellent water front campsites and the host is just the most wonderful man!! He came to say hello and welcome with his darling dog Diva (cutest teacup chihuahua). This is the perfect, off the beaten path spot to stay for the night or three! If you come here, you’ll be happily surprised by the kind neighbors, amazing water views and cool breeze. Please don’t drive through this area and miss this place. 10/10 recommend!!!!

This was a great campground. Loved the tent spots, right on the water. Bill the gentleman who ran it was Awesome!! He felt bad because mother nature tried to run us off, but we rode it out. He brought us a refund and a home cooked meal. It was amazing. I would give it a higher rating if I could.

I am writing to give Sandy at Bells Island campground 5 stars for her hospitality. My husband and I traveled the Intercoastal Waterway on a small sailboat. Sandy went out of her way to telephone and text with me about their beautiful campground on the water. We ended up not staying at Bells Island on account of timing, but she came out to the dock and we waved as we passed!
