I think this is the best campground in BC that I have tried so far, very well maintained, friendly staff, toilets everywhere, recycling and garbage everywhere, so many trees, close to a great lake, drinkable water, a place to view the stars at night, no mosquitoes, it was just awesome! There were a lot of mice but we found them cute and harmless.
The biggest reservation we had about camping here was the pit toilets, but they were surprisingly clean! Campsite was quiet, not a lot of partiers. The lake was nice to wade in but we preferred to swim in nearby Hicks lake instead. Beautiful scenery. Absolutely gorgeous and the perfect escape from the workweek.
Campgrounds are very remote and 13 kms far away from Harrison Hot springs. No mobile signal coverage. No flush toilets and no showers. You just have pit toilets. Park rangers roam around the ground almost every one hour until evening 5-6 pm and they do sell firewood. Very quite location. Did not encounter any wild life but pleasant bird chripping in the mornings. It was a pleasant stay for two nights. Few lakes close by for hangout.
Stayed Aug 7-9. Beautiful site with lots of trees and shade, and a creek flowing beside it. It's a shame there were so many mosquitoes and a campfire ban. If you have a mosquito net you'll fare better. We did not, and had to apply Off deep woods 8hr protection pretty much every hour, or stay in our tent. We spent all day at the Greenpoint day use area to get some mosquito relief! The water was really good - no metallic taste and no boil water advisory like Hicks Lake. We didn't swim at Deer Lake as it had a swimmers itch warning (and lots of mosquitoes nearby), but enjoyed dipping our toes in Hicks Lake and taking a full plunge at Greenpoint. I would stay again, but only for 1-2 nights.
Got here in July 15th, be aware that there are hundreds of thousands of mosquitoes! They are like “black tornado” attacks you!!! We all have like 50+ bites on our bodies all the time! It’s impossible to stay here without enough protection! I got itchy bites that I cannot sleep well in the night even I have been fully equipped (mosquito shirt, spray and light!) We stayed in 62 and our neighbor in 58/59 double site left earlier because of the mosquitoes. I don’t know if it is mainly because of weather, timing or mainly because of the environment of this campsite! I have been staying in many other places that also beside a lake but NEVER experienced this! Noticed the hicks lake does not have perfect water quality tho!! Besides the mosquitoes it’s all average level but I have to give it a no go because of the horrible bug issues!
