Our family recently stayed at the Saranac location. The hotel was well kept, and clean. However, they are extremely understaffed. We received a note in the room that it will only be cleaned if we request it. When needing something, having to locate staff was frustrating at times. When it comes to breakfast, it is the standard fair for Best Western, it is warm and ready for you when you get to the small breakfast room. The pool, on the Best Western website, it states that it is a HEATED POOL. DO NOT LET THE ROOM THE POOL IS IN deceive you. THE INDOOR POOL IS NOT HEATED, and visiting the hotel where it is -14 outside, you would expect the pool to be warm. It was an icebox when getting in. If you are going to advertise that your pool is heated, then heat the pool

I was a bit skeptical after reading many mixed reviews and seeing different ratings on a few travel sites. I've never booked anything with a rating under an 8. It was the free breakfast that made us take a chance. But from the moment we stepped in, altho the lobby was a bit outdated, the front desk was very welcoming and accommodating. Helped with luggage without being asked. Came to our rescue right away when the TV remote wasn't working. The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed a very good sleep. Right outside was the road but very light traffic so we weren't disturbed one bit. If you look at the details of the room, sure there are areas that could use some work, but it's cosmetic. Shower wall tiles were new. Vacuum cleaner may have missed a spot, but all in all the room was very clean and comfy. There was water and coffee in the lobby area available. Breakfast was good for our taste. Waffle maker made some very tender waffles. No toppings offered, but they had marmalade which was good. Brought our own maple syrup. Eggs and sausage were what you'd expect at a hotel. We got a good price for the room, which really should have an 8+ rating, and would return if we were in the area again.

My issues started with my arrival. The check-in was not a problem very easy. My problem is with the fact that not a single parking spot was cleared and you had to get out in deep snow. And it is not like the parking lot was full of cars when we showed up very close to empty, whoever does the plowing is just lazy or not good at it. No reason why the entire parking situation was a complete mess the entire weekend until we were leaving Sunday morning. My next issue was that we see the pool was heated and were looking forward to that after dinner. Well we go down to the pool and it was almost ice cold my travel companion would not even get it after dipping her toe in. And when I asked about it the gentleman working the front desk said that they had the heater checked it is working but he had no idea how to adjust it or anything. My final issue that was the straw that broke the camels back was the fact that the shower curtain would not stay in place and just leaked water all over the floor, and I almost fell getting out of the shower because of the fact that the curtain would not stay in place. I would not have brought up the parking thing if it had been cleaned up on Friday one day I understand but if you or whoever your plow guy is is that lazy not to show up all weekend and try to clean it up then shame on you. Considering that for winter carnival weekend it was almost 700 to stay here for 2 nights!!!!!!!!

Overall a really good experience especially at the price point. The room was clean and the breakfast pretty good. I gave a 4 star because the room was in need of some work. The bed was comfortable and clean but the overall room condition could be improved. I would definetly stay here again. The staff in general were very welcoming and friendly.

We recently stayed at Best Western Saranac Lake for three nights. The stay overall was OK, nothing special, nothing horrible. Our room was clean, the sheets and bed covering were good cleanliness-wise. The mattress and pillows were comfortable. This hotel has the absolute worst cable TV selection I have seen in years. A bunch of useless cable channels without any “normal channels” like ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS or (heaven forbid) FOX. Just a really crappy selection of “specialty” channels. Check in was fast and easy. For check-out I asked at the desk for my printout and received it promptly. The provided breakfast had good selections with make-yourself waffles, a pancake machine, cold cereals, a selection of hot food such as eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits, and what I guess is “gravy” (I’m Canadian and had never seen a white coloured gravy with brown bits in it before). Bagels, English muffins were available for toasting. Apples, oranges, and bananas were also available. The juice machine had multiple varieties to choose from. The coffee machine had a number of different strengths that could be selected. I would say that the breakfast overall was very good and the room attendant kept things well stocked. It is nice that coffee and water are available in the lobby for guests. There were also apples available for guests at the front desk. On our second day our room was not made up which I thought was odd, I had hoped for a hand towel change at least. On our third day the room was done. The pool was OK although the water was quite cold but the pool room itself was warm. Towels are available for use in the pool area. This is a non-smoking hotel, which is great, but it seemed that every time we used the door to go to the parking lot (door C) there were multiple smokers handing around outside puffing away. At least twice the puffers seemed to be staff. Not a good look for an establishment to have smokers hanging around doors. Again, our stay was nothing special, nothing horrible, adequate. If we ever stay in the area again we would likely go with something a little fancier but I can still recommend this hotel for a short stay.
