I feel like most people should not do this hike and it's very good that there is absolutely no signage for this cave. The hike is incredibly steep and ropes are needed to get down to the cave. Once inside the cave you need headlamps and good shoes since you will be walking on ice for the most part. Young kids and clumsy/unstable people should not be brought here! Very cool if you dare though and unlike anything else I've ever seen before!
Very steep climb down to the cave axcess road is closed must hike from the main road ropes to help with the last 100 yards huge cave worth the climb up and down if you plan to explore very far inside the cave bring good flashlights the light on your phone is worthless
I have been to this cave three times - it is fabulous. Most recently (late Nov. 2022) I took my wife and six kids (the kids range from ages 7 to 19). The ice was high in the ice caverns so could not get very deep in -- but there was a beautiful garden of ice stalagmites in the main cavern. The tubes at the back, behind the log jam, were lots of fun. On the way out, my 15 year old daughter said "this is like going to Disneyland, but without all the people". We were the only ones in the cave that day. Highly recommend this for families if you have the spirit of adventure and can navigate the hand lines to get down to the mouth of the cave.
Wow! What a special place! The cave is cold and you can see your breath. We brought a big flashlight so we could light up the cave popsicle! The hike out was difficult.
Excellent experience! Be careful and have grippy shoes to get down to the cave, the areas with rope are rather technical. Once at the cave, my friends and I used our flashlights to take photos that looked like the ice castles in Midway, UT.
