July 2023 - camped here over the July 4th weekend. All sites that could be reserved were, however lots of no-shows. Overall great camping. Camp hosts had a few parties over the weekend but didn't bother to clean or check the restrooms from what we could tell. The lake was great when the wind was light. Water was not on, so don't plan on using it. LOTS of mosquitoes, bring bug spray and anything else you can to keep them off you.....

The views here are breathtaking. For the price!!! Omg. It IS a 24 mile backroad to get to it but its the most paved one I have encountered. On the way in expect to see elk, deer, rodents, etc. The lake is huge and has 3 trails near it. I did the seven lakes trail. Seeing the wildflowers grow amongst the dead trees (looks like a bad fire raged thru recently) was such a beautiful hike. It's not too strenuous either. The helena path trail...if you're driving to it. Use 4wd if you can my hyundai accent hatchback barely made the steep turns. But it DID make it. I would suggest the other hikes over that one. Be prepared to Stargaze!! Bring binoculars and you'll see galaxies hidden by our eyes' abilities. It's a once in a lifetime sky. Very quiet. The quietest place I've ever been. Bathrooms are decently clean vault toilets. They are abundant and so are bearproof dumpsters. We did hear a pack of coyotes at 5 am. Very eerie. Never seen any animals other than rodents however.

Can't wait to come here in the summer! Knew of this area but had never been by it. Stopped in while hunting and was immediately impressed. Can't wait to take the family back and enjoy joy this area next year.

My family camps here every year and it has always been a wonderful experience. We weren't able to last year, so we didn't think that anything had changed. We abruptly found out after arriving, that ther is no longer potable water provided at the campground. We had to travel back to Walden, over 20 miles away to purchase a lot of water. There wasn't any TP in the restrooms so we had to buy that also. When we pulled into our campsite, the fire ring was still smoldering from the previous occupants. Very dangerous!!! We only saw a ranger one time and that was 30 minutes after we pulled in. Never had anyone to report anything to. The fire ring looked as if it hadn't been cleaned out for Avery long time. Disappointed with this campground that my family has been visiting for over 60 years. We are thinking of camping on B of Land Management land next year. We didn't have any of the amenities that we have been accustomed to.

Beautiful lake and campground just outside of the town of Pearl Colorado. Great place to camp or stop for a beautiful lunch. Nice clean bathrooms. Can get busy in the summer months believe it or not.
