We are proud to share some of the positive feedback from our recent guests:
- "Stayed for a week in Dec. The foliage is gorgeous! Just about every site has trees and shrubs making them nicely secluded from neighbor. There were lots of critters to see: several kinds of birds, deer, raccoons, opossums, turtles… The trails and walking bridges were well maintained and we were able to see a lot of wildlife. Bath house was clean with HOT water. Short drive to Perdido Bay beach (a lot of blue jellyfish washed up). Overall a great place I would visit again. Also dog friendly." - A Happy Camper
- "The Campground was clean and tidy. The camp hosts were super friendly and always out cleaning and updating the park to keep it in good running order." - Another Satisfied Visitor
Big Lagoon State Park Campground is more than just a place to stay—it's an experience you'll remember for years to come. We look forward to welcoming you to our little piece of Florida paradise.

Will add the entire review later. The Campground was clean and tidy. The camp hosts were super friendly and always out cleaning and updating the park to keep it in good running order. The Campground roads were a bit narrow and crumbling and state park fees are annoying (reservation and utility fees).
This is a huge park with lots to do! 🙌🏻 Biking🚴🏻♂️ hiking 🥾 beaches⛱️ birding🦅. There is over 5 mi of trails including about a mile of boardwalks! They have several pavilions for events including a huge one called the Governor's Pavilion, with a huge covered chimney and grill. There's also an amphitheater! 🎭 It is not a huge camping area. And there is only one loop which is very busy. Every morning a vehicle goes by every couple of minutes! 😲. The campsites are not very deep so you must disconnect your vehicle. They are isolated from each other which is nice. 😀 The bath houses are 🫧 clean and have nice showers.🚿 You would think a campground this small, only 66 sites with hookups, would have only one bath house. But instead they have four! 😲 Including the one in the very back for the group use camping area, which is mostly primitive. The showers🚿 aren't very 🥵 hot, but there's plenty of water pressure! ⛲
We camp using our fifth wheel RV. The sites are large enough for our unit. The park is wonderful with lots of trails, beaches, biking opportunities. There is a small playground for the little ones. The bathrooms are always kept clean The park personnel are helpful and very courteous. I only wish they would provide a laundry room as other state parks we have visited.
After reading all the nice reviews I packed up my dog to go tent camping. Unfortunately they don't allow dogs because they bark. So it was a wasted trip after driving 2 hours. Never made it to the back to see anything. It's $29 as well. I really think they just didn't want me back there. Lets be clear I'm brown skinned. I would not recommend this place for brown skimmed residents.
Green park with campsites surrounded by nature with trails and easy access to the lagoon. Campground Description: This is a medium-sized campground with campsites tucked in the amongst the trees and bushes to provide privacy. It has a narrow one-way street all the way around the large loop with a few streets that cut across. The cut across streets would be challenging or impossible for big rigs and there were a few tight turns on the loop furthest from the entrance. Some of the areas of the roads can definitely use TLC because of asphalt crumbling and some low branches. Some of the campsites are challenging to back into because the main road is so narrow. Campsite # 71 This was a back in site with a sand pad. The sand was a bit soft if you stray off the driving area. Most of the campsites have some significant slope to them. Ours was quite downhill, but we were able to get it level. The sites have water and 50 & 30 #thifty, no sewer. There is a dump station at the entrance of the campground. The sites have a picnic table and a fire ring with a layover grill attachment. No propane refill. You can get propane at Tractor Supply about 6 miles away. The Ace Hardware is only 2 miles away, but they charge a flat rate for smaller tanks. Wifi: no campground wifi. Verizon is okay, but Starlink is your go to for streaming at this campground. Noise Level: This campground is fairly quiet. No train or traffic noise. There are occasional planes flying over. Stargazing as somewhat limited by weather and light pollution from the city. Amenities: They have 2 centrally located bath houses with bathrooms and showers that were standard state park décor but clean. They have a couple of dumpsters easily located. One at the dump station close to the entry and exit. No pool or laundry facility. There is a laundromat about 20 min away. They have a really nice playground for the kids in the center of the campground. Other facilities: Walking trails, picnic areas, a boat ramp, and an observation tower over the lagoon. They also have kayaks an paddleboards for rent at a self-serve kiosk. Dog friendly: There is no off-leash area and dogs are not allowed on the beach, picnic areas, and some of the other areas. They do have multiple pick-up stations that are fully stocked. Camp store: No camp store, but there is a Winn Dixie grocery and a Dollar General about a mile away. Amazon Locker: The UPS Store at Barrancas Ave is about 20 minutes away. Camp staff interactions: We had multiple interactions with the camp staff. They were friendly and always out working hard to keep the park clean and tidy. Reservation process: Online reservations are available. The website is fairly user friendly. Additional info: Parts of the campground road are prone to flooding during heavy rains.
