What a gorgeous place! I would definitely return! Quite a busy place during a holiday weekend visit, but once you get there and see the views with your own eyes, you'll understand why!
Clean camp site with easy access. Everything is clearly marked for easy directions. Public restrooms clean and stocked. Huge area with clean trails so you can access nearly every point of the shore. From boating to paddle boarding to hiking there are so many things to do in such a small area. I am a local and this is the place i go because of the beauty and simplicity.
About 2.8 miles around the lake if you want to do a quick day hike. The trail is well maintained. It even connects to the Archuleta trail if you want to backpack and make it into a 2-3 day hike. I would go counter clockwise around the lake, if I were you.
This is the best place for hiking, fishing, kayaking, or having a family picnic. There is the reservoir, streams, and beautiful mountain views. It's absolutely beautiful!!
Beautiful and very relaxing. Highly recommend.
Big meadows is easily my favorite reservoir in Colorado. Moderate walk around the lake with plenty of wildlife to check out. Good place for boating and fishing.
