The Big Tesuque Campground was a great place to stop and enjoy the scenery while driving the 485 during a spectacular rainy day in Santa Fe. Absolutely stunning!
This place is excellent for free tent camping. There are two outhouses right next to the car park. And several campgrounds right next two two beautiful creeks, with table, benches and grill. You have to walk up a small trail with your stuff but there you are.. directly in nature and quiet. On the places more up the public hiking trail you donβt even hear the cars driving. But there are people driving up to the mountain top all day long. Itβs beautiful. There were some flys but nothing special. Early in the morning the outhouses and trash bins will be cleaned. Great place for free!
Campground is the trailhead for numerous trails (see all trails app). About 6-8 camp spots following creek up the trail, it seems they're FCFS, nice happy camping spots, but little privacy if that matters to you. Vault toilets there too, clean as they can be, lots of toilet paper ππ© I took the trail up the mountain that starts at the creek, straight up hill about 90% of the trail, follows the creek most of the way, not a long trail but a pretty one and a decent workout. Dogs welcome, but should be on leashes for their safety and out of consideration of others. Enjoy! πβοΈπβ°οΈππΎ
Such a great place for our sledding adventure today. Free fun for your family. Dress warm!!! All of those resorts charging money for an activity you can do for free, closer to home?! Why pass this place up and the drive up there is beautiful. We saw deer and a bobcat (not sure) while we were leaving. We're going back tomorrow with some cheap shaver sleds from target. Thanks for looking out local peeps. These mom's appreciate you.
Fun fun fun. Quick get away for a day of sledding. Had a bathroom that is open year round too, whoop whoop lol. Beautiful area, can't wait for summer to do some camping.
